Election Reform Progress
Action from Council President Gloria On the Club's Resolutions
The Club approved two resolutions at it's June meeting to be sent to the San Diego City Council and two more to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The resolutions called for amendments to the Charters of the County and City to ensure that local officeholders and Initiatives/Referendums be elected/approved by the largest pool of voters possible - specifically, during General (November) elections. Council President (and Dems for Equality member) Todd Gloria recently responded to our resolutions, detailing the preliminary actions taken to make the reforms happen.
Several other Clubs and organizations have joined us in this call for election reform and we're grateful for the solidarity. If you are a member of other civic/political organizations who have not yet added their voice to the call to have important civic decisions made by more of our citizens, please ask them to do so.
You can get a refresher on the original resolutions HERE.

Club Seeking Two Additional Board Members
Dems for Equality adopted a By-Laws change that called for two "at-large" Board members. Board members must be members in good standing of San Diego Dems for Equality. At-large Board members are expected to attend monthly and specially called Board meetings, as well as manage special projects as requested by the Board.
If you are interested in election to the Board, contact us HERE.

Save The Date
...Sep 7th Is The Day That The DemoBears Have Their Picnic...
Last year's picnic was great and once again we will have our DNC member in charge of the volleyball. Make plans to join us Sunday, September 7th - 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
We'll provide the drinks. You bring yourself and a meat (or non-meat protein), salad, fruit, veg or dessert.
It'll be fun, but it'll be more fun with you there. Clear the date and we'll be back in touch with more details later.
