Picnic in the Park
 
Picnic Planned In Lieu of August Meeting

In lieu of our August meeting, we are having a picnic on Sunday, August 18, from 12:30 p.m - 3:00 p.m. It will be held in the picnic table area of Morley Field, Balboa Park, located on the southeast corner of Texas Street and Upas Street. Look for the club banner.

Lunch will be served between 1:00 - 1:30 p.m. Please bring a pre-cooked dish (entrees, dessert, salad, chips and dip, vegetables, fruit, bread rolls, etc. to share). Soda, water, paper plates, and plastic utensils will be provided.


Bring blankets, lawn chairs, yard games (croquet, etc.) or table games (cards, etc.).  We will have a volleyball net set up.

Wear your favorite T-shirt from a past Democratic campaign!

Family and friends welcomed!

   Freedom Awards 

Nominate  Someone for a Freedom Award

 

The club's annual Freedom Awards is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, September 22.  It will be a garden party at a home in Coronado -- save the date and watch for details.  The Board will be selecting this year's recipients next week and you are invited to submit nominations, no later than 12:00 Noon on Monday, August 19Click here for award descriptions and nominations.

Governor Signs Historic Transgender Student Rights Bill

 

Yesterday, California Gov. Jerry Brown signed the historic Assembly Bill 1266, the School Success and Opportunity Act into law, ensuring transgender youth have the opportunity to fully participate and succeed in schools across the state.   For more details, read the Equality California Press Release.

For answers to these and many more questions, make sure to join Congressmember Susan Davis and an expanding list of event co-sponsors on Tuesday, August 27, 6-8 pm in the San Diego LGBT Community Center's auditorium for an informative town hall featuring legal experts in the areas of taxes, immigration and LGBT rights.
