Mid October already! Thanks to the moderate temperatures the Fall leaves seem to be hanging on a bit longer than usual, resulting in some spectacular Fall scenery around Southern Alberta.

Make sure you're seeing clearly enough to enjoy it. A number of our patients have already benefited from the new i.Scription Wavefront technology which helps them see more clearly than ever before. Book an appointment to get your eye health and vision checked and we can discuss how we can enhance your vision.

See you soon,

Dr. Tom Wilk, Dr. Michele Naruszewicz and Associates"

Thanks,

Tom

October is Children's Vision Month

chidlren's vision monthThe Canadian Association of Optometrists recently conducted a survey that showed that 61% of Canadian parents mistakenly believe they would know if their child was having difficulty with their vision. Children's Vision Month was created to help build awareness of the need for regular optometric eye care for school age children. A child may not even be aware of or report a vision problem because they assume everyone sees the way they do.

World Sight Day Challenge

The World Sight Day Challenge is the largest annual global fundraising campaign to address avoidable blindness caused by uncorrected refractive error - simply the need for an eye exam and glasses.

Blue Light Exposure May Cause Eye Damage
Blue Light may cause eye damage We used to reassure parents of teenagers that too much TV is  unlikely to "ruin their eyes", however, new research is showing we may need to re-think that advice.

Blue light, also known as "High-Energy Visible" light (HEV) is emitted from electronic devices such as TVs, computers, video games and smart phones. It's also found in artificial light sources like LED lights. It tends to penetrate the eye to a greater degree than natural light sources, and studies show it may contribute to diseases of the retina such as Macular degeneration after chronic exposure.
