Special Thanks to MVO Staff Members

Pat D. Sandra C.    Elaine E.

This month we are proud to feature three of our special staff members - Pat, Sandra, and Elaine.  We congratulate them for each having recently reached their five year Anniversary with Mountain View Optometry!

Pat had been in the optical industry for several years prior to joining us.  She works at our Crowfoot location in the optical department.  Her passion is going above and beyond to find the pair of glasses that meets her patient's needs perfectly.

Sandra came to us from a background in the health industry, and works at our Cochrane location performing preliminary computerized testing for the doctor. She excels at treating every patient with friendliness, compassion and respect.

Elaine also works at our Cochrane office in the pre-test area.  She efficiently collects accurate data for eye examination purposes, all the while making our patients feel welcome and relaxed even in our frequently busy and fast-moving work environment.

All three are notable for their customer service excellence, attention to detail, attendance record, punctuality, skill and expertise in their department.  We have seen so many comments come through from you, our patients, thoroughly impressed with their experience meeting them during a visit to our office.

Thanks Elaine, Sandra and Pat, for your dedication to our patients, as well as your loyalty and commitment to the Mission at Mountain View Optometry.  It's people like you who make our company great.  We're lucky to have you on our team and look forward to celebrating your "10 Year" with us in the future!

Everyday situations can put your eye safety at risk

Over 90% of all eye injuries are preventable.  One does not necessarily have to be involved in a dangerous occupation or hobby to be exposed to this risk.  This article will discuss a few commonly encountered circumstances that may threaten your eyes and your vision.

Air bags

There is little doubt that air bags have saved thousands of lives since they were first introduced over 20 years ago.  They can, however, cause injuries to the eyes such as abrasions of the cornea, fractures of the orbit and even retinal detachment.

New light-adjustable lens for cataract patients

A cataract is a clouding of the lens of the eye.  This common condition often requires surgery to remove the lens and replace it with a tiny implant.  Following surgery most patients will require glasses to fine-tune their vision, but new technology is being developed that will allow your doctor to actually change the power of your cataract implants, after the surgery is completed.

Calhoun Vision Inc, out of Pasadena, California, has invented an implantable lens that can change shape when exposed to UV light.  Moderate levels of nearsightedness, farsightedness and even astigmatism can be neutralized with this new technology.  In this way the powers of each eye's implant can be adjusted to reduce or eliminate dependence on glasses following cataract surgery.

New daily disposable bifocal contact lenses now available

Mountain View Optometry is one of the first practices to offer you a brand new contact lens by CooperVision.  The Proclear multifocal contact lens is now available in a daily disposable format.

This lens provides excellent vision at all distances as well as PC Technology that stays wet while on your eye.  This allows many people to wear this lens comfortably for 12 hours per day, even in Southern Alberta's dry climate.

Now you have the benefit of multifocal lens technology combined with the convenience of daily disposability for best eye health and comfort.  Make an appointment to see one of our doctors to discuss if this exciting new technology may be right for you!

Thank you for seeing us regularly for all your eye care needs.  We look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

Dr. Michele Naruszewicz
