CIBAVision Dailies July Promotion

CIBA Dailies

Do you wear contact lenses, or are interested in trying them?  Daily disposable contact lenses are such a great option for many of our patients for a number of reasons.  Now, at Mountain View Optometry for the month of July only get eight boxes of CIBAVision Dailies Aquacomfort Plus contact lenses (a year's supply) for the price of seven! *

Also, as a way of welcoming new contact lens wearers to the world of convenience and eye health of daily disposable contacts, we have another offer for the month of July only:  buy one box of CIBAVision Dailies Aquacomfort Plus contact lenses and get the other for free! **  This is ideal for our patients who do not or cannot wear contact lenses full-time.  Daily disposables are great for outdoor or social activities and require NO care or maintenance - simply discard each pair after you've finished wearing them!

* May not be suitable for all patients.  A fitting fee may apply if you do not currently wear this type of lens

** Applies to new contact lens wearers OR existing contact lens wearers who are new to daily disposable contact lenses.  A fitting fee will apply

Smoking's effect on your eyes Smoking Effects

Aren't there enough reasons not to smoke?  Lung and throat cancer are the best known harmful effects, along with aging of the skin.  But did you know that smoking actually increases our risk for blindness, too?

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) can lead to blindness and is one of the leading causes of vision loss in North America.  The risk of AMD increases with age, and the number of people affected by it is expected to double by the year 2020 due to the aging population.  Many studies have shown that smoking can increase the risk of developing AMD by two to three times!

Other eye problems associated with smoking exist as well.  Read on...

Fribbit the Frog visits St. Sylvester Elementary School

Fribbit and group

Congratulations to the Kindergarten students at St. Sylvester Elementary School in Silver Springs, Calgary - because 100% of their class got their eyes checked this year, they won a visit from Fribbit the Frog!

Fribbit is Optometry's mascot for preventive eye care for kindergarteners in the province of Alberta.  The "Eye See Eye Learn" program ensures that access to eye examinations and eyeglasses are not barriers in preventing kids from learning up to their potential.  You can read more about Eye See Eye Learn here. The kids had a great time hearing from Jolene and Dr. Wilk about the importance of getting your eyes checked, but the real star of the show was Fribbit (played by our own Amber Grove).  Good thing we saved her for last because the kids went "a little wild" over Fribbit.

Thanks to Madame Hasiuk, teacher at St. Sylvester as well as Karen Hollingsworth at the Alberta Association of Optometrists for helping with the event.
