Staying warm with wood chips
Environmental awareness is at the forefront of much of what we do. We are Forest Stewardship Certified, an LEED points option for Northeast cities, choose products with no or low emissions whenever we can, earned a Vermont Governor's Award for Pollution Prevention and our factory is heated with wood chips.
Brought to us from Lathrop Forest Products, a biomass hardwood chip mill located less than 50 miles away in Bristol, Vermont, wood chips heat our 52,000-square-foot factory floor.
Often used in municipal use, wood chips burn far cleaner than fossil fuels and are a renewable resource.
In the WallGoldfinger factory, a wood chip fired boiler warms water sent to Modine style heaters, keeping our woodworkers warm.
We like the irony of wood chip fired boiler heating a furniture factory. And with wind chills reaching as low as 50 below zero as we write this, we can also attest that it's a system that works well.
