Theatrica: A Tour of the Community Arts
An interactive, educational exhibit of an inside look into community arts with a focus on the stage, including day camps and a number of live performances.
The exhibit, located in the Gus Gallery and South Gallery will be a celebration of the arts in the Lea County community. Many of the arts groups in the community have agreed to be a part of the exhibit sharing their information and exhibiting costumes, props, and photos from their respective groups. We will also look at some of the arts groups of the past as each of them have had a part in shaping our community.
If you've ever wanted to become involved in the arts, many of the groups are open to the public, some require a fee. Others bring in performances and we will feature their upcoming schedules. If you look for it, it's hard to say there's nothing to do here.
After learning about dancing, art, music and theater, venture into the Museum's theater and try your hand at performing. We will have an interactive theater where you can dress up, use props and dance, act, or sing. We'll provide a few monologues so you can work on your speaking skills, make up your own scripts or dances, or simply be a part of the audience and encourage others.
A part of the exhibit will also be a number of live performance as well as day camps teaching you a number of skills in the arts. Stay tuned to the upcoming e-newsletters for more information about the performances and camps.
