Spend part of your summer with a group of 15 teens & work with Library staff and architects on the redesign of the Central Teen Room.

If selected, you will commit to full participation in four advisory meetings between June and September. What's in it for you?
  • Civic engagement
  • Leadership development
  • Community service hours
  • Letters of recommendation and appreciation
  • A stipend
And a chance to influence the design of the Central Library's new Teen Room.

Interested? Teens entering grades 8-11 in fall 2016 can apply or learn more by emailing Kay Finney.

Teens Review

Otomen is a manga (which is anime but the book version) and it's shojo which is girl-style (shonen is boy-style).

It's about this guy named Asuka who likes girly things. He's not gay, he's a straight guy who likes cooking, sewing, and cute things like little stuffed animals. But his dad left when he was small.

Asuka wants to become a woman to help out his mom.  She's opposed to the fact that he likes cute things. She made him learn manly stuff like kendo and judo. He's at the top level in Japan.

When a new girl named Ryo arrives, she doesn't have any friends because she's new. Also she's kind of manly and loves brutish things like martial arts and climbing mountains. Asuka starts to really like her and they start to go out. This book is all the adventures of them being together.

It's great and I recommend it for shojo manga lovers!
