Love Stories: Romance, Heartbreak, Prom...
|
Looking for a good romance for Valentine's Day? Here are some great books that came out last year. Or check out our whole list. The Wrath & The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh What could be more romantic than a retelling of 1001 Arabian Nights with a fierce, strong, beautiful, smart Shahrzad and a wounded Caliph with a complicated history? The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett Beatrix makes anatomical drawings and Jack is notorious for his graffiti. When the mismatched artists meet, sparks fly. Watch their secret-filled romance grow through nights on MUNI buses and San Francisco roof tops. This Raging Light by Estelle Laure However messy and inconvenient, love is taking over Lucille's sensible self. Forget the bills she has to pay and her responsibilities looking after her sister since her parents are both gone. When she is with her best friend's twin brother, none of that matters. I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson This book is two stories of two twins, their artistic ambitions, first loves and their relationship with each other. Throw in a tragic car accident, a growing awareness of sexuality and a little bit of magic and it is no wonder this one won awards.

The Rest of Us Just Live HereThis is a coming of age story about a group of friends on the verge of graduating from high school, and heading in diverging directions to far away colleges and different futures. Unless, of course, they are murdered by the blue-eyed creatures who are trying to take over the world. Review by Will Marston, West Branch Teen Services Librarian
