Children's News & Events @ Berkeley Public Library
March 2015

Greetings!

March is when the Library celebrates reading with young children through the our Read with Me program. Pick up a game board at any Library location and complete simple and fun early literacy activities with your 0-5 year old!

Talk, sing, read, dance, write, play with your child throughout the month, and win a colorful stuffed animal. Read with Me runs from March 1-31.

For more fun ways to raise a reader, look at Becoming a Reader in English or Spanish from Reading Is Fundamental.

And don't forget to look at our Pinterest  Page, especially the Raising a Reader board.

March is also Youth Art Month! Involvement in the visual arts develops a host of skills: critical thinking, innovation, and creative problem solving. Making art  teaches children how to learn from mistakes and press on, and to understand that problems can have more than one solution. In addition, the process is meditative and fun. What's not to love?

Kids can express themselves through the visual arts at all library locations this month:

Every Saturday in March at the Central Library from 3:30-4:30pm we will provide a a variety of ways for your kids to express themselves using the visual arts.  Drop in and create with us.top1 See below for more information

Library Branches will also present art programs ranging from the wonders of Duct Tape Art, to DIY Felt Fairies, to Comic Book creation!
