Give yourself peace of mind
There's nothing like getting away from it all in Oregon's backcountry; except maybe knowing that you are prepared to handle a medical emergency in a remote area. Be prepared! There is still room in Recreation's Wilderness First Responder course Dec. 12-21.
As a certified WFR, you'll have the tools needed to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations. If you hike, fish, mountain bike, snowmobile or any other activity in the back country, being a certified Wilderness First Responder will give you peace of mind. Learn more

No-school days that are active and fun
Sheldon and Amazon Centers have some great activities on tap for December's no-school days. The popular KidCity Adventures program for ages 5-12 years will be held Dec. 22-Jan 5. Campers will make crafts, play games, make music, go on field trips and more. In-person registration required. Call 541-682-5312 for details. For 13-15 year olds, Amazon offers its popular Counselor in Training Camp Dec. 29-Jan 1. View the video to learn more about this unique program. Campers learn to be part of a team, be a leader and develop curriculum. |
Find the right fitness class for free!
Not sure if Boot camp will be too tough or Gentle Exercises too easy? Give them both a try. During Fitness Week, Jan. 4-10, several one-day, Try-for-Free classes give you the opportunity to sample classes, including belly, Bhangra, folk or line dance classes. Registration is required to attend any Try-for-Free class. In addition to fitness, you can try Spanish or Watercolor. For more information, call 541-682-5318.
