Humbugs Story Time

Join in the fun on Fridays at 10:30 a.m. at the Hopewell Municipal Building between January 17 through February 21st. All children ages 6 and under will enjoy stories, songs, fingerplays and a craft. A drink and snack will be provided. Humbugs is presented by Story Tellers from the BF Jones Memorial Library.

Sewer Authority Board Openings

Hopewell Township currently has two openings on the Hopewell Township Sewer Authority Board and an alternate position available. Any Hopewell resident that would be interested please click the link below titled Special Committee Application Form and submit it to hrpr@hopewelltwp.com for consideration. Residents are also welcome to drop off the application at the Township's Administration Office at 1700 Clark Boulevard.

Elected Officials Sworn In

Newly elected officials and re-elected officials were sworn in at the Municipal Building on Monday, January 6.  Rich Bufalini, Joe Kusnir, David Ciccone, and Diane Palsa took the oaths of office administered by District Magistrate Janet Swihart. Rich Bufalini  will serve a third term and Joe Kusnir will serve his second term as Township Commissioners. Commissioner Bufalini was reappointed as Vice President of the Board and Commissioner Norm Kraus will remain President. David Ciccone will serve his first term on the Board of Commissioners and Diane Palsa was re-elected for a second term as the Township Tax Collector. Each of the elected officials being sworn in had family, friends and staff on hand as well.

 

Pavilion Rental Day Kickoff

   

Hopewell Community Park Pavilion Rental Day Kickoff will be held Monday, February 17 at the Municipal Building. Numbered tickets will be passed out beginning at 6:00 a.m. on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations will be taken starting at 8:00 a.m. You must be present when your number is called. The first week is reserved for Hopewell Township residents only who must bring photo identification.

 

Two checks for the rental fee and deposit are required for payment; refunds are mailed to the renter after their event, provided the area is cleaned and all equipment is returned. Please have two choices of rental dates and all necessary information. Rentals are available for out-of-township residents beginning Monday, February 24 at the Municipal Building between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; no reservations will be taken over the phone.

 

Pavilion reservations are on a first come, first serve basis at the Hopewell Township Municipal building. We cannot accept cash, only checks or money orders will be accepted: one check or money order for the pavilion fee and one check or money order for the deposit. No credit or debit cards will be accepted. 

 

Community groups who require a specific date for their annual function need to send a written request ATTN: Pavilion Rentals to the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, 1700 Clark Blvd., Aliquippa, PA  15001 or fill out a form at the Municipal Building by Monday, February 3, 2014.

 

Rental fees for Hopewell Township residents are as follows:
Pavilions #1 & #3 - $100
Pavilions #2 & #4 - $75
Nature Center - $75
Pavilion #5 at Shadow Lakes - $25

Rental fees for Out-of-Township residents are as follows:
Pavilions #1 & #3 - $125
Pavilions #2 & #4 - $100
Nature Center - $100
Pavilion #5 at Shadow Lakes - $50

 

A $50.00 security deposit is required for all rentals. Deposit check will be returned upon satisfactory clean up. Any questions, please call 724.378.1460 Ext. 101. Click here for more information.

 

Lots of Winter Fun at Chillin' In the Park

 

The park was covered with a blanket of snow during the festivities at Chillin' in the Park. The audience laughed and cheered as teams raced the sled down a field to finish in the fastest time. Spectators watched in awe as ten brave souls jumped into the freezing lake. Prizes were awarded to all the sled race winners and gifts were given to the individuals who jumped in the lake.

Hopewell Township Honors Outstanding Citizens

Residents were recognized for their remarkable work and dedication to the township at a meeting on Monday, January 27. The Board of Commissioners acknowledged Robert Steigerwald, Anthony Candiello and Stephen Gray each with a resolution. Hopewell Township presented Bob Steigerwald with an award for his volunteer work in the township. The award, which is now named the Bob Steigerwald award, will be given annually to the township's most exceptional volunteer. Anthony Candiello, a Senior at Hopewell Area High School, volunteered as a Camp Lakewood counselor at Hopewell Community Park during the months of June through August in 2013. Stephen Gray, owner of the Kane Road Drive-In, was recognized for his long-standing devotion to Hopewell Township by operating his business in the township for 59 years.
