2015 Building and Remodeling Expo
by Jeff Feyrer, Committee Chair

Another year of the WCBA Home Building and Remodeling Expo has come and gone. It was again held at the Washington County Fair Park Pavilion from February 6 - 8.  This year's event featured Gus Gnorski as our guest speaker, formerly from Fox 6 Milwaukee TV and WTMJ radio show "Ask Gus". Attendees were able to ask him their fix it questions. We also had the 2015 ABC Supply Indy race car on display for people to actually sit in and have their picture taken.

Our advertising included local radio stations WBKV in West Bend and WTKM in Hartford, local newspapers, 49 ads on Fox 6 Milwaukee TV, and posters that were displayed around the county.

Our total attendance was 1,085, which was a little down from last year, but there are great ideas for improvement for next year!

I would like to take this moment to thank all of our sponsors: Uptown Motorcars in Slinger who again was our "Featured Sponsor", Weather-Tek as our Gold Sponsor, JT Feyrer Exteriors LLC as sponsor for Gus Gnorski, Carpet City Flooring Center as our partner in our banquet food sponsor, Anchor Bank as our Friday night drink sponsor and Atlas Roofing as our Bronze Sponsor. Thank you for helping to make the event such a success!

The 2016 WCBA Home Building and Remodeling Expo will be held a few weeks later than normal from February 19 -21, 2016. If anyone is interested in helping to plan next year's event, please contact me, Jeff Feyrer, at (262)305-1673 or send me an e-mail at jtf71961@yahoo.com . Your help and your ideas would be much appreciated!

Speakeasy Party
by Dirk Wildt, Committee Chair

Save the Date!!!

Later this year the WCBA, in conjunction with West Bend Mutual Insurance, will be sponsoring an exciting fund raising event to benefit the West Bend chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 12th, 2015 and watch for upcoming announcements bringing more information about the first annual WCBA Speakeasy Party. Aptly named "Behind Closed Doors", the evening's theme will center on the speakeasy-style revelry of the 1920's.

Local bar and restaurant establishments will compete for "best cocktail" and "best bartender" as party-goers enjoy the experience and ambiance of a 1920's speakeasy. Live music and a live auction will round out the night at the elegant Prairie Center on the grounds of the West Bend Mutual Insurance Company. It's not too early to SAVE THE DATE, as this fun-filled evening of "Roarin' Twenties-style" fun promises to be an event to remember.

Presidential_Message A Message from the WCBA
President, Matt McCabe

Greetings WCBA members! Spring is just around the corner and change is in the air - including some recent changes to your WCBA Board of Directors. As the newly appointed WCBA President, I am pleased to announce some "changing of the guards" on your Board of Directors.  In addition to the election of two new board members at last month's general meeting at the Expo, the board has appointed four existing board members to new posts as officers at the February 19th board meeting.

The two new faces on the board are Ray VonGunten of Valley Technologies and Steve Martin of Carpet City Flooring Center. Ray and Steve will lend their considerable talents and experience to the WCBA as general board members. Already, I am very excited about the positive impact they will have on the association - simply based on early input at their first official board meeting on February 19th. Welcome aboard Ray and Steve! On behalf of a grateful general membership, we thank you for your future service!

Appointed as new officers at the February 19th meeting were myself, as your new President, Jeff Feyrer as Vice President, Tony Larke as Treasurer and Dave Moschea as Secretary. On behalf of each of your newly appointed board members and officers, we commit to you our most dedicated efforts in the careful stewardship of your Washington County Builders Association.

In closing, a fond tip of the hat to the following board members and officers who are moving on after many years of service but intend to stay in touch and help out on various committees whenever possible in the future:

  • Dirk Wildt of Cobblestone Builders, 6 years of service, 4 as President
  • Caroline Wilkes of Wilkes Plumbing, 3 years of service, 2 as Secretary
  • Jason Miller of A-1 Pools, 3 years of service, 2 as Treasurer
  • Dave Spooner of Stortz Custom Homes, 3 years of service on the board of directors

We all, as WCBA members, owe a tremendous amount of gratitude to the immeasurable time and efforts that each of these generous individuals have given to the betterment of our association. Our heart-felt thanks to each of you. Truly, best of luck in all your future endeavors!
