Win A Free Expo Booth!
Attention all WCBA members! The Washington County Builders Association board of directors, in collaboration with the Home Builders and Remodelers Expo Committee, has unveiled a special promotion wherein all WCBA members are eligible to WIN A FREE EXPO BOOTH! In an effort to increase awareness and attendance of the WCBA dinner meetings, the following promotional offer has been approved by the board and is now available to all WCBA members as of September 12th, 2013.
It's this simple:
1) Watch for your emailed invitation to the next dinner meeting.
2) Register and attend the meeting. You will automatically be entered into the drawing.
3) Be the lucky individual whose name is drawn at the Holiday Party in January!
Your name will be entered into the drawing EACH TIME YOU ATTEND a WCBA dinner meeting. In that way, each meeting you attend increases your chances to win.
Why not come out and enjoy a few hours of networking and dining with your industry peers? A good time is always had by all. A featured guest speaker always provides valuable education. And now you have even more reason to attend! Since there are only three meetings between now and the 2014 Expo, get in NOW while the odds are REALLY in your favor!
The next meeting will be held at Wegner's Cedar Lake Inn on Thursday, October 10th. Click here to register or for more details about that meeting in this newsletter, and keep an eye out for the October dinner meeting Invitation which will be emailed out soon.
See you at the next dinner meeting... and the 2014 EXPO!

New Director Appointed to Board
The Washington County Builders Association Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dave Moschea as its newest member. Dave has been a regular attendee at the WCBA dinner meetings for the past two years and has demonstrated a genuine regard for the association and a consistent commitment to its efforts. Dave brings unique business experience that will lend itself well to the vision and the goals of the current WCBA board
Dave's early experiences as a member of the Milwaukee Police Department and the Wisconsin National Guard left him with a unique perspective on the value of community service. Since then, Dave has enjoyed a long and successful career in the automotive industry, wherein he has forged a reputation as an honest, capable and dependable businessman. Since his 2011 appointment as the Director of Fleet and Commercial Sales at Uptown Motorcars, Dave has interacted with many of our WCBA members on an ongoing basis, bringing his expertise to bear in solving their truck and general fleet needs
Please join me in thanking Dave for joining ranks in service of the WCBA. On behalf of his fellow board members and the entire WCBA membership I extend a warm welcome and heartfelt appreciation. Welcome aboard, Dave!

WCBA 2013 Tour Of Homes Review! by Matt McCabe, Scholarship Committee Chair
The results of the 2013 Tour of Homes Survey are in! As the Tour Committee Chairman, I wish to express my appreciation to all members who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback provides vital information that helps us to improve upon future Tour events. Here are some highlights from the 2013 Tour of Homes:
BY THE NUMBERS: 8 PARTICIPANTS; 7 HOME BUILDERS; 1 REMODELER; 9 LOCATIONS; 250 GUESTS (APPROX.); 2 LUCKY BINGO CARD WINNERS!
SAMPLING OF SURVEY COMMENTS:
"Good participation. (Perhaps add) 2 to 5 more homes?"
"Signs need paint. Missing screws."
"Early communication is needed on the date and planning."
"I don't think (number of models) plays a big factor. The prior year there were only 5 and had a good turnout."
"Would have liked to see the ad campaign in advance to know more where it was advertised."
"Signs to big and bulky. Hard to install."
"Good job by the committee, thanks!"
The general conclusion that can be drawn from the survey results is that the 2013 Tour of Homes was considered to be a successful and valuable event, but there remains room for improvement, primarily in the areas of communication and signage. Please know that all the data and comments gathered from the 2013 survey will be carefully considered and used to improve upon next year's event. In fact, the WCBA board has already approved measure to improve upon the current Tour signage.
Again, thank you for participating in the 2013 WCBA Tour of Homes - whether as an exhibitor or an attendee. And thank you for your much-appreciated feedback.

2013 Enchantment in the Park Call for Volunteers
My name is Mike Bauman and our Rotary Club in Menomonee Falls is partnering with the Washington County Rotary Clubs bringing to West Bend the annual "Enchantment in the Park". This is a month long event where people can drive through Regner Park decorated with 10's of thousands of lights. The theme this year will be Christmas's from the 1900's to the present which in prior years this event was held at the Washington County Fair Grounds.
We are in need of volunteers to help with some carpentry tasks, putting together the displays. Construction will begin in mid-October on Saturday's & Sunday's. If anyone has the time to help, please give me a call at 414-322-4113 or e-mail me at mike@josephdouglashomes.com.
If you want to see this year's updates plus all the prior year's comments and pictures please visit https://www.facebook.com/Enchantment.in.the.Park.
Thank you for your consideration.

A Message from the WCBA President, Dirk Wildt
One of my goals as President has been to look at the workings of the Association to see where improvements would be needed, to provide ideas, listen to suggestions and recommendations and finally with the help and support of the Board incorporate those ideas into a working policy.
One of the very first was to change the name of the Association from the West Bend Builders Association to the Washington County Builders Association. I, as did the Board of Directors felt that this would help the Association encompass a much larger geographical area and bring in new members. With your approval the name was changed.
Secondly, we looked at how the Association was financially positioned. We were spending a great deal of money on a beautiful office space but it was highly underused. Now with the help of technology we can have a remote office in the "cloud", have our meetings at area locations with a variety of guest speakers and thus saving the membership valuable money that now can be given back to the community via scholarships and used to enhance your membership experience.
Now the time comes to look at the roots of the Associations By-Laws as they were written many years ago. After much discussion and deliberation your Board has rewritten the By-Laws to bring them up to date and reflect today's Association. Please take a moment to read the New By-Laws and/or the Existing By-Laws with Noted Changes via the links provided and come to the October Meeting for a discussion and vote. This is an important meeting and I urge all members to attend and suggest that any member who cannot make the meeting to please call me so that your vote and/or comments about the potential new By-laws can be recorded.
Remember that this is your Association and we sincerely want your input. See you at the meeting!
