Cookie Sale going strong
The Cookie Sale is still going strong throughout the council. Thank you girls, parents, volunteers, leaders and those who have supported by purchasing Girl Scout cookies! All of your efforts make a difference! Remember, the top sellers from each area will be featured on the council billboards for next year's cookie season!

Booth sales begin February 1. Please keep in mind the following booth sale etiquette:
  • Set up booth sale in designated area.
  • Do not complain about any rules that are set by store manager.
  • Do not block entrance to store.
  • Adults will be present at all times.
  • Have a good attitude, smile and say thank you even if a customer does not buy.
  • Bring own change and not ask store for change.
  • Clean up after booth sale and throw away trash.
  • Park away from the front of business and not take up good parking spaces.

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES

Girl Scout travel opportunities are great ways to explore new places and cultures, and meet new people.  Girl Scouts of Greater South Texas is hosting a trip to Savannah, Georgia in July 2013, and a trip to London and Paris in June 2014.  In addition, there are travel opportunities hosted by Girl Scout councils across the country called Destinations that are open for girls to enroll.  Visit our new travel webpage at www.gsgst.org/program/travel.html and plan your unforgettable journey!

Rose Lehmann has been a Troop leader in Brownsville for Girl Scouts for 23 years. Rose was a Girl Scout herself as a young girl. In 1990 Lehmann became the leader for Troop 174 and has seen many girls start at the Brownie level and graduate as Senior Girl Scouts. Lehmann has also led school troops for girls in Brownsville, most of whom live in a low socio economic area. She has a passion for Girl Scouts and loves helping the girls be the best they can be. Thank you, Rose, for all of your hard work and dedication to Girl Scouts!

The conference is March 1-2 and those staying overnight will need tents.

Classes being offered are:  Troop Camp Training, Series & Events, Backpack Training, Ceremonies and Songs & Games.

Remember that you MUST register by the deadline.  Additional participants will be added if the class has enough pre-registered participants ahead of time.

Please call us for all your training needs.  We will do our best to see that classes are scheduled in your area.  If you are an experienced leader, moving up the ladder of positions, and training is appealing to you, give us a call.

SUMMER CAMP

Girl Scout camp is a great time for girls of all ages!  Girls learn life skills, teamwork, self-reliance, stewardship of their environment, and community living.  And they have FUN while doing it.  Sign up for some time at the pool or lake by signing up for a summer camp at Camp Bayview or Camp Green Hill.  Summer camp information and registration packets will be posted in February.  Volunteers also needed!  Find information at www.gsgst.org/summercamp.html
