SmartRiverside Grows Riverside's Tech Community
SmartRiverside is doing its part to grow the tech community in Riverside.
The program offers a High Technology Tenant Improvement Program, awarding grants to small technology companies with sales of less than $20 million per year. The program is designed to help offset tenant improvement costs for small technology companies, allowing them to redirect capital.
The Digital Inclusion Program is also contributing to the Riverside tech community by developing a future workforce. The program generates revenue through is e-waste collection efforts; such revenue is then used to purchase and provide free computers to low-income families. They receive the free computer and Microsoft software after they take eight hours of free computer training, provided in English or Spanish.

Local Colleges Set Record Enrollment Numbers for 2013

Riverside's local colleges and universities have again set record high enrollment numbers for the 2013 school year. With three Universities and one Community College, the City of Riverside boasts a student population of 48,718.
The University of California, Riverside total enrollment for the 2013 school year grew to 21,297. The University also welcomed the inaugural class of the School of Medicine this fall with 50 students donning their white coats at in front of a crowd of 700 parents, family members, faculty and community supporters for the School's first White Coat ceremony.
California Baptist University also launched a new program this year with the launch of the Aviation Science program and opening of the Flight School under that program.
