Riverside to Celebrate Fireball Run Finish with Extravaganza on Sept. 28

On Saturday, September 28th, the 2013 Fireball Run Adventurally, an action packed 2,500 mile trivia game with the goal of aiding in a massive effort to help find America's missing children, will be finishing in Downtown Riverside. The theme for the 2013 event is All Stars and Movie Cars, with notable Hollywood, exotic, and classic cars being on-hand at the finish line event. 

As this event is expected to bring thousands to Downtown, the City of Riverside and the Riverside Convention and Visitors Bureau look forward to partnering with businesses and residents to make this a memorable experience. The Finish Line Extravaganza is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. and will include food trucks, Beer & Wine Garden featuring local craft beers and wines, autographs, kids zone, a Finish Line parade at Main Street and University Avenue, live music from local bands Summer Twins and On Being Human, and a Classic & Exotic Car Show featuring some of the coolest cars to hit the big screen including (Read more...)

Riverside's First Coworking Space Opens in Downtown 
Members of Riverside's first coworking space celebrated the grand opening of Riverside.io on August 6th, 2013

On August 6th, 2013 Riverside celebrated the opening of its first official coworking space in Downtown.

Across the nation, the number of coworking spaces is rising at rapid pace as professionals and entrepreneurs strive to get out the basements and coffee shops currently serving as their workspace.  However, a coworking facility is more than just office space shared by professionals; rather, it provides the opportunities created by people who are still working independently, but share values and are interested in the synergy that can result from working with like-minded, talented people in the same space.

Although coworking spaces can be geared towards several interests and industries, Riverside.io is very much tech-focused, doubling as a hackerspace, and has found the demand to be greater than Mueller had anticipated. (Read more...)

City of Riverside Lands State Grant for "Riverside Reconnects" Streetcar Plan
Caltrans transportation planning grant of $237,500 will help Riverside identify next steps

Mayor Rusty Bailey's effort to bring streetcars back to the city through the "Riverside Reconnects" program received a boost when Caltrans awarded the City a $237,500 transportation planning grant.

The grant, which the City sought through the Southern California Association of Governments, or SCAG, will enable the City to conduct research and complete feasibility studies examining such questions as how the streetcars would be integrated with existing vehicle traffic and bus service and how they would be funded. (Read more...
