Survey Predicts Solid Hiring in Third Quarter

Inland Southern California workers looking for jobs could have an easier task this summer, a study by one of the country's largest job placement firms found.  

The survey, released Tuesday, June 11, by Manpower Inc., found that companies will be hiring in San Bernardino and Riverside counties during the third quarter in almost all types of job sectors. Of the firms questioned, 24 percent said they plan to increase their staffing levels in July-September; 8 percent predicted staff reductions. (Read more...)

City Program Provides Tax Breaks for Qualified Historic Building Restoration/Preservation - Application Deadline Friday

The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the Mills Act program through June 28, 2013.

The Mills Act is the single most important economic incentive program in California for the restoration and preservation of qualified historic buildings by private property owners. The Mills Act allows the City to enter into ten-year contracts with owners residential or commercial buildings who actively participate in the restoration and maintenance of their historic properties while receiving property tax relief. The City of Riverside adopted the Mills Act because it recognizes the economic benefits of conserving resources and reinvestment as well as the economic and physical revitalization of older areas, creating cultural tourism, building civic pride, and retaining the sense of place and continuity with the community's past.  (Read more...)
