Dr. Helen Chen Recognized as February's Innovation Honoree

On February 12, 2013 Dr. Helen Chen, CEO of Ambryx Biotechnology, was recognized as the Mayor's Innovation Honoree for February for her work in Riverside and beyond.

City of Riverside Technology Ombudsman Greg Lee described the Yale and UC San Diego graduate as "a person who is not only involved in the development of a cure for cancer through her company, Ambryx, but who is also a mentor, leader and a friend to our high tech community."

Ambryx Biotechnology is a privately-held pharmaceutical company founded in 1997 that specializes in the research, development and commercialization of cancer treatment drugs and clinical nutrition. Since moving her company to Riverside in 2005, Dr. Chen has been working with the city and the Riverside Technology CEO Forum to grow local tech companies; she serves as a mentor to professors who are starting their own companies and also to college students working at Ambryx as interns, as well as to younger female students interested in science, technology, engineering and math. (Read more...)

While smaller flat-rate business customers, like those with an average electrical demand below 20 kilowatt hours (kWh), have shown interest in participating in RPU efficiency programs in the past, factors such as time, staffing constraints, and cash flows haven't allowed them to participate. (Read more...)
