World Kitchen's West Coast Expansion to Bring 125 New Jobs to Riverside
On January 8th Riverside announced a new industrial space lease with Rosemont-based World Kitchen, LLC as part of the company's newly-restructured distribution model. One of the nation's leading housewares companies, World Kitchen will take its logistics network beyond the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions as this location establishes a major West Coast presence.
The facility is located at 2325 Cottonwood Avenue in the City of Riverside. To secure the location, World Kitchen worked closely with various partners before the 2013 peak holiday season; Riverside provided an opportunity for first quarter occupancy of 400,000 square feet. A planned expansion will be completed by mid-2013 to bring the space to 636,000 square feet.
"Riverside proved to be an ideal location as part of inland southern California with close proximity to the port of Long Beach," said Chris Roth, vice president of global direct sourcing, World Kitchen. "We were able to expedite a solution to ensure maximum efficiency with a long-term, west coast operation and as a result, the city and facility will help us to continue to distribute our world-renowned products." After researching potential opportunities for increased efficiencies and improved communication, an electronic plan submittal and review process management system was determined to be the most effective solution; both benefitting businesses and increasing efficiency in internal project development processes.
