City of Riverside Launches Innovative Website Tool to Assist New and Expanding Businesses

RiversideProspector provides dynamic data and sophisticated mapping technologies to help expanding businesses find their perfect location.

Powerful mapping capabilities include overlays of important site-selection data

The City of Riverside announced today the launching of RiversideProspector.com, making access to powerful business information research only a mouse-click away.

Using Geographic Information System (GIS) Software, the website provides immediate access to in-depth information that previously took weeks to research. Now, data including dynamic real estate, demographic and industry breakdowns are available free and instantly for the Riverside area, along with a database of available properties with images.

Over 97% of initial site selection screening is done on-line now, and the new website provides immediate access to critical business intelligence that decision makers need to make an investment decision. The site reduces research time from weeks to minutes. (Read more...)

UC Riverside Showcases Local Talent and Success in the School of Business Administration Dean's Speaker Series

The Dean's Speaker Series brings successful leaders in the business community to discuss current business issues and share their experiences with UCR students. Guest speakers represent a variety of industries, and have ranged from leaders in the Inland Southern California business community to UCR business school alumni who have found success outside of the region. Through luncheons that accompany the lectures, students have the opportunity to interact in person with speakers.

According to Yunzeng Wang, Interim Dean, "We started the Dean's Speaker Series several years ago because we know how invaluable it is for our students to have the opportunity to not just read about success in textbooks, but to also see success firsthand by meeting accomplished business leaders."

RCC's Culinary Arts Academy, the future Coil School for the Arts and a gallery showcasing local civil rights leaders are featured in a planned Renaissance Block.

The projects, which include a rooftop pavilion where culinary students can cater special events and a midsize performing arts venue, will attract people downtown, said Virginia Blumenthal, a college district trustee who has led committees planning the projects. "I'm very excited about it," she said.

So far, only the Center for Social Justice and Civil Liberties occupies the block. Funded by Riverside redevelopment pass-through money, the roughly 12,000-square-foot center is housed in a renovated Spanish baroque style bank building and will include displays and videos about Riverside civil rights pioneers and preserved art pieces showcased there. It is open by appointment and times can be scheduled by calling 951-222-8854 or emailing to socialjustice@rccd.edu. (Read more...)
