CKLN HAS TALKS WITH OECS
Mr. Ken Sylvester, Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Knowledge and Learning Network, CKLN, recently visited with government representatives from Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Kitts & Nevis, Antigua. In the discussions, Mr. Sylvester shared the proposed configuration of the OECS member states to the regional network, C@ribNET, and the respective roles and responsibilities of each country as members of that network. The need to develop a sub-regional, OECS research and education network was discussed and CKLN is working towards facilitating an initial meeting in the coming months. In addition, the respective countries identified the national institutions that will be connected to C@ribNET, in the first instance.
Special Interest Group (SIG) on Emerging National Research and Education Networks
The SIG is a spin-off from a small number of regional interest groups that formed where a group of individuals were interested in pursuing information about opportunities in specific regions. These groups convene at Internet2 member meetings to exchange information and catch up on current happenings in the region.

Currently, there are four active regional interest groups: CARIBBEAN, SOUTH ASIA, MIDDLE EAST, and AFRICA. The mission: to bring together the international community to address advancing the state of high-performance networking for research and education in underserved places around the world.
