Thank you to our wonderful PTA for our newly refinished handball walls!! While I was gearing up for a Trojan Victory this weekend, the handball courts were being repaired and our Dragons were able to enjoy the new courts today!! Thank you Pennekamp PTA!

Red Ribbon Week is coming up!

This year Red Ribbon Week will be from Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24th. We will have a theme each day to support the week and would love to see all Dragons on board. Here is the schedule of days:
Monday- Crazy sock day and bracelets will be handed out
Tuesday- PTA will distribute Red Ribbons for all students to wear
Wednesday- Crazy hair day
Thursday- Team up against drugs, wear your favorite team gear (Cardinal & Gold, maybe?)
Friday- Wear Red

In addition, the annual Sketchers Walk is coming soon! Have you signed up to be on TEAM PK?? Looking forward to walking with my Dragon family on Sunday, October 26 at 8 AM starting at the MB Pier. Hope to see you there!
Membership Update

Every class can be a winner! The first class to reach 100% participation earns $200 - $100 to each class thereafter! Keep those donations coming and let's help our teachers!
 
And don't forget, the deadline to participate in the Membership Raffle is this Wednesday, October 15th. Donate at least $350 per child to earn a raffle ticket - earn double the raffle tickets by becoming a Super Dragon! An IPad Air or GoPro could be yours!Raffle winners will be announced at Bingo Night on Friday, October 17th! Thanks for your support!
GIVE TO MBEF, SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS


  
Parent donations to MBEF will fund educators' jobs in grades K-12 this year. One in five Pennekamp elementary teachers is funded through your donations to MBEF. Add to that your new PE teacher Mr. Newman, your librarian Ms. Barbara, science specialist Ms. Holton, reading specialist, elementary music teachers, and much more, and you have the third best school district in the state. We hope we can count on you again.

FOOD DRIVE- OCT. 13TH- OCT. 31ST

 

The PK library will be collecting nonperishable food items to donate to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. World Food Day is October 16, and with Thanksgiving is coming up soon, so it is an ideal time to think of those who lack sufficient food-for whom hunger is a persistent concern. When coming by the library to return or borrow a book, please bring a nonperishable food item to donate! Thank you for your generosity.
  

CANDIDATES FORUM- OCT. 15TH

  

The League of Women Voters is hosting a non-partisan candidates forum next Wednesday (10/15/2014) from 7 to 9 pm for the positions of Assembly, Senate, and US Congress at the Mira Costa High School Auditorium. Please come out to hear the candidates and become informed voters.  See attached flyer for more details.

PK FAMILY DISCO BINGO NIGHT- OCT. 17TH

 

LAST CHANCE to pre-order bingo cards for our 2nd Annual Family Disco Bingo Night. Election day is Tuesday, November 4, 2015.  Be an informed voter!  If you are not registered to vote, register now at: http://registertovote.ca.gov/.  To register, you will need: Your California driver license, the last four digits of your social security number and date of birth. 

FATHER DAUGHTER DANCE- NOVEMBER 15TH

Join the fourth annual father daughter dance party on November 15. This year, our theme is Bikers & Babes. Dads come out with your biker outfits and Girls wear your cute biker girl outfits to this fun filled night of dancing, food, games, and prizes. We need some volunteers to help make this a great event.
