PTA Presidents....

 

As our PTA Membership drive comes to a close at the end of the month, we would like to take this opportunity to offer a heartfelt thank you for your support! When you walk through campus, talk to your child or visit a classroom, you can see how your donations directly enrich your child's educational experience. While we appreciate the decision to donate is a personal one, we want to assure you your donations are vital in providing the diverse programs, technology, supplies and campus enhancements our children, parents and teachers value - all of which are overwhelmingly funded by PTA membership donations and our other fundraising activities. So, if there is ever a question if we need your help, the answer is.....we could not do all of this without YOU! Thank you to those who have already donated and for those of you who would still like to donate, please visit our school website (http://www.pennekampschool.org/) to do so. Membership Update-- Week 7

The countdown is on to become a SUPER DRAGON.  The deadline is October 15.  Become a Super Dragon by donating the suggested $350 per child to PK PTA and pledging/donating to MBEF (online atmbef.org/givetoday/, in office, or mail in) by this date. Super Dragons receive DOUBLE the raffle tickets and DOUBLE the chances to win an IPad Air or Go Pro at Bingo Night!

Please keep those donations coming so we can reach our goal!  And we are still looking for the 1st class to reach 100% participation - will it be your class? 
GIVE TO MBEF, SUPPORT OUR SCHOOLS

 

Parent donations to MBEF will fund educators' jobs in grades K-12 this year. One in five Pennekamp elementary teachers is funded through your donations to MBEF. Add to that your new PE teacher Mr. Newman, your librarian Ms. Barbara, science specialist Ms. Holton, reading specialist, elementary music teachers, and much more, and you have the third best school district in the state. We hope we can count on you again.

CANDIDATES FORUM- OCT. 15TH

  

The League of Women Voters is hosting a non-partisan candidates forum next Wednesday (10/15/2014) from 7 to 9 pm for the positions of Assembly, Senate, and US Congress at the Mira Costa High School Auditorium. Please come out to hear the candidates and become informed voters.  See attached flyer for more details.

PK FAMILY DISCO BINGO NIGHT- OCT. 17TH

 

Please join us for our 2nd Annual Family Disco Bingo Night. SKECHERS PIER-TO-PIER FRIENDSHIP WALK- OCT. 26TH 

  

Register for the SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk on Sunday, October 26th. Cost is $25 per person.

  

Join the PK Team! It's more fun to walk with friends and classmates. When you sign up, designate 100% of your registration fee to go to MBEF. Last year MBEF received $100,000 from SKECHERS for our participation in this event! If you cannot walk on October 26th, become a virtual walker with your $25 donation going to your school team. Team Pennekamp will meet at the beach parking lot south of the Pier at 8.45 a.m. and begin walking at 9 AM. Wear PK or Pier to Pier shirts!

GRADES OF GREEN- YOUTH LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The Youth Corps is our awesome student leadership program in which students who join take on a year long project of their choice to help green their school community. Students are provided with mentorship and leadership training from our amazing Youth Corps staff members as well as peer support from other Youth Corp members. This group is perfect for students who are passionate about the environment and would like to take on a leadership role in their school. Our past Youth Corps students have made significant "green" changes in their communities, developed leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives, and have made lasting friendships.
