Primary Care Office Newsletter
Holiday 2012 |
The theme of our holiday newsletter is to provide resources to develop or enhance your retention and recruitment plan.
Many of our safety-net sites have implemented "best practices" to enhance the recruitment and retention of providers, but there is always room for improvement. Included in the newsletter are:
- retention plan templates from the "Midwest Retention Toolkit;"
- links to continuing education programs; and
- information to maximize your recruitment efforts either through the Conrad 30/J-1 Visa Waiver or the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) programs.
Please remember, every investment of your time can improve and stabilize the quality of care for your organization and your community.
We also want to encourage all safety net sites and providers to reach out to your health education institutions and become a teaching site for students and residents to complete their preceptorship and clinic rotations.
The Primary Care Office (PCO), in partnership with the Office of Rural Health and Great Basin Primary Care Association, encourage you to contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Barbara Heywood Nevada PCO (775)684-4047 |

High Sierra Health Education Center (AHEC) has partnered with Vegas PBS to develop a custom-branded web portal through the public television station's Vegas Virtual Online Education platform to provide over 350 continuing education training courses and programs to healthcare professionals in Nevada.
AHEC, a non-profit organization headquartered in northern Nevada, offers healthcare professionals courses to maintain and/or upgrade their certifications and licensure, as well as healthcare career exploration courses for AHEC's youth initiatives.
A key component of offering an online learning platform is the organization's ability to now reach healthcare professionals in rural areas who may, or may not, have the ability to attend in-person courses. For more information, please contact Andrea Gregg at High Sierra AHEC at 775-682-5744.
Providers are also encouraged to access and participate in continuing education programs offered by the
