The Dragon has Landed!

Dragon Boat racing is coming to South Jersey and Evolution Fitness in July.  We are currently forming a team at EvoFit to compete in a race on Cooper River, Saturday, July 18th.  For more race info visit cooperriverdbf.org and sign up at the front desk to be a part of Team EvoFit.  We are looking for 20-24 paddlers.  It is $45 per person, which covers one practice as a team the week before, 3 races on race day and a team shirt for racing.  EvoFit's own Dragon Boat Veteran and Coach Maureen will provide all the training needed to take us to the finish line and hopefully the podium for medals.

The racing is fast & exhilarating.

Latest & Greatest in Fitness Programming!

The results are in! Everyone is feeling the burn with the new density sets and super-setting programs also known as Total Body C and Metabolic C. So far they have been a hit! Speaking of hit, we just released the newest High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) program this month also known as Express C! Express C will now be Tabata style. This version of HIIT also known scientifically as the IE1 protocol was based on a 1996 study by Professor Izumi Tabata et al. initially involving Olympic speed skaters. Tabata training has been proven to provide improved athletic capacity and athletic condition, improved glucose metabolism and improved fat burning. Please keep in mind our results and improvements reside in our recovery from each work out! With that in mind remember to hit the Tune Up class after the Express class. Our Tune Up class provides the best environment to begin the recovery process. Also please take your time when foam rolling, grab your recovery smoothie at EvoFit Shake Café and as the temperature rises throughout the summer be sure to stay hydrated!

Brian Tackles American Ninja Warrior

Memorial Day weekend, some of Team EvoFit made the 5+ hour drive to Pittsburgh to support Brian in his quest for American Ninja Warrior domination! Although we are sworn to secrecy until his episode airs in late June/early July, it was a great experience so see the show live.

The covert course was located on an old steel mill on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, which made for an awesome backdrop for the show. Being loyal fans of the show, we got a insiders look at how the magic happens. From the ninja waiting area, to the giant monitor, to the teleprompter, to the cameras and to the sideline interviews; it was all a cool eye opening experience. We now have a new understanding on what it takes to pull off a hit TV show!

We were directed to walk through the steel mill to get to the actual course and audience stands. They brought in old steel equipment to display and special lighting, almost like an exhibit. Once out of the mill, we were in awe of the course and ANW set. There is a lot going on behind the scenes! We quickly found a section in the stands near the "qualifiers circle" and the famous Warp Wall so we had a great view. We all wore EvoGreen, made "Go BK" signs, BK heads (Brian's head cut out and put on a paint stirrer) and cheered at the top of our lungs. Look for us during Brian's episode, especially during the sideline interviews as they were usually filmed in front of us! (Golf Clap!)

A large gong sounds alerting the audience that a new ninja is about to start their run, which is replaced with a "beep beep" when aired. The course does go red when a ninja falls, sometimes in spectacular fashion!   They do their best to dry off the course between ninjas while they reset the course. We are all excited to see Brian's episode and how often we are on TV! It will also be great to learn everyone's back-story and what lead them to ANW as they do not announce anything while taping.

Charity Workout with Joe Flacco

Our Charity Work out was a huge success! Over 200 people came out to meet and workout with fellow member Joe Flacco to raise money for St. John of God's 50th anniversary. SJOG has been an integral part of many individuals and families lives throughout the country and even in our own facility. The workout raised about $3,800 for SJOG's mission to help others. Thank you all for your participation, generous donations and heartfelt encouragement to all participants involved.

It was an extremely fun day filled with energy, smiles, high fives and excitement. A big shout out to Joe Flacco for donating his time for the workout and autographs. Also to the Krumm family for their diligence and support. Thanks to our coach and avid shutterbug, Kevin, for the great pictures above and many more can be found on the media page of our website.

Haddonfield Dawgs LAX finishes STRONG!

Danielle, aka Dani on the lacrosse field, just completed her fourth year coaching the girl's Haddonfield High School Lacrosse team. As the assistant coach of the Junior Varsity (JV) team, they finished the season strong with a record of 15-3. The entire roster, including Varsity and JV, consisted of 27 field players. Dani's team made her proud being diligently focused and committed to success even with limited ability to make substitutions when tired. They were always focused and gave a 100% even when they were down a player on the field. Dani always has high expectations of them and always expects improvement each week because she knows they have the talent. Dani's goal as a coach is to get the girls prepared to play Varsity and to help them improve as an all-around athlete.

The Haddonfield Lacrosse team warms up just like we do here at Evolution Fitness with the Foam Rolling protocol and a Dynamic Warm Up. Having been low in players this year, they could not afford any injuries. With the introduction of these techniques in 2012, they eliminated many of the common sport injuries such as shin splints, quad, groin, hamstring pulls, and ankle sprains. It's great to see the techniques we apply at EvoFit working firsthand right on the lacrosse field. The key is to take the warm up protocol seriously which has really helped with injury prevention.

Danielle says "The best part about coaching is being a role model for female athletes. My role as a coach on and off the field is to empower them to be the best that they can be and encourage them to know that anything is possible. I enjoy getting to know each player personally, to see them improve each year and grow up as fine young women getting ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives. It brings me such joy and it's one of the reasons why I return each year" Danielle is looking forward to coaching the 2016 Lacrosse team with a strong freshman class coming in and to see the continued growth of the Haddonfield Lacrosse program.
