Need to get rid of that old beat up chair in the garage, or the broken appliance that's taking up space in the closet?  It's time - Curbside Bulky Item Pick Up Begins Monday!  

 

 

The Fall Large Item and brush Pick-Up will take place Monday, September 9th - Monday, September 23rd. Set out your piles early to avoid missing your pick-up time. Crews will pass each home only once.

 

Items accepted for collection include: 

  • Old furniture
  • Water heaters
  • Appliances
  • Brush

Items NOT included in the collection include commercial and industrial waste, construction material, tires, batteries, oil, paint, or other household hazardous waste.

 

Please have Freon properly removed from refrigerators and air conditioners and tagged by a qualified Freon disposal technician. 

 

Piles must not be larger than 8 cubic yards, or 6 ft. wide x 6 ft. deep x 6 ft. tall. Materials exceeding the size limitation will be left behind and will need to be removed from the curb by the resident. Please do not place piles near parked cars, fences, fire hydrants, or mailboxes; beneath overhead wires or low-hanging trees; or on top of water meters.

Bond Oversight Committee Seeks New Member

  Be a part of the future of Leon Valley

 

The Bond Program Oversight Committee was established as a mechanism to encourage greater accountability for effective, efficient, and lawful use of the bond proceeds approved by voters on May 12, 2012.

The committee currently has an opening for anyone interested in serving in a voluntary capacity. No experience is necessary. The committee meets on the 4th Thursday of the month, at 5:30 p.m. for approximately 2 hours.

Anyone who is interested is encouraged to contact the the Office of the City Secretary more information.

T'ai Chi Chih:

Saturday mornings at 8 a.m., join us on the grounds of the Leon Valley Public Library for T'ai Chi Chih:  Joy Through Movement.

  

T'ai Chi Chih is an easy to learn set of movements focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called "Chi."  It does not require a particular level of physical fitness or coordination.  People of all ages can learn it.

  

T'ai Chi Chih  meets rain or shine, all year around. Come join the group!
