Public Meetings
The Branding of Leon Valley Continues
New Logo

The Branding Subcommittee's next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 29, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  The group will begin the next phase of the branding process - developing tag lines for the logo.  On August 6, 2013, the City Council approved the new logo.  Also, scheduled for discussion is the City seal.  The meeting is open to the public

 T'ai Chi Chih: Joy Through Movement
 Wellness Activities at Library
   
Saturday mornings at 8 a.m., join us on the grounds of the Leon Valley Public Library for 
T'ai Chi Chih:  Joy Through Movement.

 

  

T'ai Chi Chih is an easy to learn set of movements focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called "Chi."  It does not require a particular level of physical fitness or coordination.  People of all ages can learn it.

  

T'ai Chi Chih  meets rain or shine, all year around, even while the library remains closed. Come join the group!

 

 

Fall Clean Up
Curbside Bulky Item Pick Up

 

The Fall Large Item and brush Pick-Up will take place September 9th - September 23rd. Residents may start placing their bulky items on the curb beginning Monday, September 2nd. It is recommended that residents set out their piles early to avoid missing their pick-up time. Crews will pass each home only once.

 

Items accepted for collection include: 

  • Old furniture
  • Water heaters
  • Appliances
  • Brush

Items NOT included in the collection include commercial and industrial waste, construction material, tires, batteries, oil, paint, or other household hazardous waste.

 

Please have Freon properly removed from refrigerators and air conditioners and tagged by a qualified Freon disposal technician. 

 

Piles must not be larger than 8 cubic yards, or 6 ft. wide x 6 ft. deep x 6 ft. tall. Materials exceeding the size limitation will be left behind and will need to be removed from the curb by the resident. Please do not place piles near parked cars, fences, fire hydrants, or mailboxes; beneath overhead wires or low-hanging trees; or on top of water meters.
