Ceremony Planned for the Evers School Road Well
We hope you will join us for the dedication ceremony of a picturesque well that once served the 1894 Evers School, the first school in Leon Valley.
The ceremony is set for Wednesday, October 31, 2012 between 10 a.m. & 11 a.m. outside the Leon Valley Conference Center, 6421 Evers Road, Leon Valley, 78238. RSVPs are being accepted by Angela Trejo either by email at a.trejo@leonvalleytexas.gov or 210-684-1391, extension 200.
LVEDC Board Applications Being Accepted
The City of Leon Valley is still accepting applications for the Leon Valley Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors in Place 6 with the appointment for service through September 30, 2014. Email the completed application (see attachments in last box below) and resume to Claudia Mora, Economic Development Director at
c.mora@leonvalleytexas.gov.
Food Drive Continues
There is still time to contribute to the 3rd Annual Leon Valley Food Drive for the San Antonio Food Bank. This year's goal is 10,000 lbs. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at the Leon Valley Fire Department, the City Hall, or the Police Department, 6400 El Verde Road, Leon Valley, 78238.
The donation deadline is November 16. Many thanks to our Fire Department for taking the leadership role in this most worthy effort!

 Just a reminder that Early Voting continues at the Leon Valley Conference Center, 6421 Evers Road, Leon Valley, 78238, this weekend for extended Early Voting Hours:
- Saturday, October 27, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.
- Sunday, October 28, 12 noon - 6 p.m.
- Monday, October 29 - Friday, November 2 from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Please note that Special City Council Meetings can be scheduled for different days and beginning times.

Out and About the Neighborhood Shop Leon Valley first, help to strengthen our local economy! Shop first, buy fresh at the Leon Valley Farmer's Market. The Leon Valley Farmer's Market locates on the Parking Lot next to the Leon Valley Public Library on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. NeighborWoods Program Information. The NeighborWoods Program link will be available on the City's website soon. 4th Annual Leon Valley Arbor Day Tree Adoption & Celebration Make plans  to attend the 4th Annual Leon Valley Arbor Day Tree Adoption & Celebration on Saturday, November 10, between 9 a.m. & 12 Noon at the Library & Conference Center Grounds, 6421 Evers Road. The Forest Oaks Garden Club meets next on Wednesday, November 14 at the Leon Valley Public Library at 1:00 p.m. The speaker is Keith Heise, President, Water Garden Club of South Texas.
The Leon Valley Fire Department
in conjunction with the International Association of
Fire Fighters is hosting the 3rd Annual Leon Valley Food Drive for the San Antonio Food Bank. We have been updated that this year's goal is 10,000 pounds. Non-perishable food items may be dropped off at the Leon Valley Fire Department or at City Hall, 6400 El Verde Road, Leon Valley, 78238, beginning October 15 and ending November 16. There is a big red container in the front City Hall Lobby area. T'ai Chi Chich: Saturday mornings at 8 a.m., join us at the Leon Valley Public Library for T'ai Chi Chih: Joy Through Movement. T'ai Chi Chich is an easy to learn set of movements focused on the development of an intrinsic energy called "Chi." It does not require a particular level of physical fitness or coordination. People of all ages can learn it. We meet, rain or shine, all year around. Come join the group! For information, call the Leon Valley Public Library at 210 - 684-0720. |
