Dear Friends of BBLA,

To say that I am very pleased with so many outstanding events taking place at Bohemian National Hall is an understatement.

Last month our DAHA celebrated its 25th Anniversary with an afternoon packed program complete with a panel discussion. The organization also honored the founding member Jack Taylor.

We staged a magnificent opening of Vladislav Kucharski's paintings with our favorite musician Iva Bittova adding her magic voice to the exhibit. What an amazing show!

I would also like to mention a very interesting program called 6 MINUTES: Czech and Slovak Academic Show & Tell put together by our SVU. This was a pilot program for talented, bright young Czechs and Slovaks who are currently studying and/or working at universities and institutions in the New York City area. They were challenged to present to the audience the subject of their studies in a six-minute timeframe allocated to each participant. It is essentially a slightly longer version of the so called "Elevator Pitch", as the short presentation is referred to in the business circles, a concept derived from pitching business ideas to the top brass while riding an elevator with them. The presenters and the audience went on to spend the rest of the fascinating evening interacting with each other. Well done, SVU!

Have a warm and sunny May

Thank you,

   JosephBalaz
