Final seats available for Legislative Luncheon
We are down to the final few seats for the 2016 Legislative Luncheon.

The annual event, which sees Government officials and elected MLAs attend a luncheon with members from the Cayman Islands business community, is close to selling out, and the Chamber is urging all those who wish to attend (but are yet to sign up) to do so immediately.

Cayman Islands Yellow Pages are the headline sponsor for the event.

The Hon. Premier Alden McLaughlin will also be attending the event and he will be delivering a keynote address to everyone in attendance. Also in attendance will be the Her Excellency the Governor Helen Kilpatrick, a number of Government Ministers, and several senior public officials.

The Legislative Luncheon is taking place at the Ritz Carlton, Grand Cayman on October 19 from 12:00-2:00pm.

To secure your seat before the event sells out, please contact Kerry Pratt at kerry.pratt@caymanchamber.ky

5 Mentors needed for 2017 Mentoring Cayman programme

The Chamber of Commerce is seeking 5 final mentors for the 2017 Mentoring Cayman programme.

Our final 5 students have expressed an interest in medicine, physiotherapy, and acting & video production.

The Chamber is asking 2 female doctors and 1 female physiotherapist to contact us to mentor a female student, and we are calling all male actors or video producers to mentor one of two male students.

The Mentoring Cayman programme is life-enriching not only for the mentee, but also for the mentor. By mentoring a student, you will be providing them with the encouragement and support they will need for future success.

Please contact Nikita at reception@caymanchamber.ky if you are interested, or please call us on 949-8090.

COSME to hold 2-Day Business Incubation Clinic

Representatives from COSME, the EU funded initiative providing support for small businesses in British, Dutch & French offshore territories, will be visiting the Cayman Islands next week.

They will be running a 2-day clinic on business incubators, a topic which Chamber CEO Wil Pineau, CCE, learned all about during his visit to The Netherlands (see article below).

The 2-day workshop is a necessity for all small business owners, and it will also feature the official launch of CaribConnect.

Final month for Leadership Cayman applications

There is less than one month for applications to be completed and sent to the Chamber for the 2017 Leadership Cayman programme.

In the last week the Chamber hosted a packed out Alumni Reception at Edoardo's restaurant, where graduates from the past brought prospective class members with them.

Last night, Monday October 3, we hosted a final orientation session, which saw 16 possible class members visit the Chamber offices for further information about the life-enriching and community-engaging programme.

We urge everyone who may be interested in applying for the programme to do so immediately so to avoid disappointment.

Contact Nikita at reception@caymanchamber.ky, apply online at our website, or give us a call on 949-8090.

Meet our Member: Cayman Islands Yellow Pages

We've all been there. Whether it's trying to find out what to have for dinner one night, or whether it's hunting for the right repair company to fix a problem at the house, we've all needed to flick through a directory to complete our mission. And no directory is as recognisable as the Yellow Pages.

The Cayman Islands Yellow Pages are a useful tool for absolutely everyone throughout the Islands, with their paper directories ready and waiting in hosueholds and in offices, and their website being but a mere few clicks away from solving your problems.

They are also an active and engaging member of the Chamber of Commerce, having most recently signed up as the headline sponsor for our 2016 Legislative Luncheon on October 19, a fact that we grateful and wholeheartedly thankful for.

As a further thanks, we thought we'd invite them to take part in this week's "Meet Our Member" section, and we caught up with their Marketing Manager Eileen Keens and asked her some questions about the future of the Yellow Pages, what attracted them to our events, and why joining the Chamber Membership is beneficial.

Chamber CEO returns with Business Incubator knowledge
Chamber CEO, Wil Pineau, CCE has returned to the Cayman Islands with newly acquired knowledge about business incubators.

Along with UCCI's Dr. J.D. Mosley-Matchett, Wil was representing the Cayman Islands during the week-long trip in the Netherlands' Eindhoven region.

The pair spent the week attending seminars about business incubation throughout Holland, and even travelled to physical incubators to see the concept in action. Wil even got involved with some carpentry and wood-working whilst visiting an incubator which focused on arts & crafts.

Brainport Development to visit Cayman Islands

Representatives from Brainport Development - an economic development company situated in the top technology region of Brainport, Eindhoven - will be visiting the Cayman Islands next month in an effort to spread the word about business incubators and ways in which technology can be used to develop and grow economies.

Chamber CEO, Wil Pineau, CCE recently met Brainport Development personnel during his trip to the Netherlands, visiting their offices in the process. Wil also attended a seminar delivered by Brainport Development's programme director Piet van der Wielen.
