CHAMBER VOICE

Chamber of Commerce and Government to host Marketplace 2016

The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce is working in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Tourism to host Marketplace 2016.

The event will bring business from Cayman and the wider Caribbean territories together to celebrate the Caribbean Week of Agriculture.

The two-day event will give businesses the opportunity to meet their Caribbean peers, as well as allowing them to showcase their products and services to a wider audience.

Upcoming Professional Training and Legal Masterclasses
training_worldcloud.jpg

The Chamber of Commerce has a wide range of training sessions and masterclasses available to its membership and the wider community, and September is packed with some superb classes.

Those currently in or seeking a supervisor position will benefit from our "Essentials of Supervision" course on September 1st, whilst those looking to perfect and better their grammatical skills will be suitable for our "Basic Grammar & Writing Skills Part 1."

We also have another "Pensions" masterclass, a session which sold out entirely last time! These masterclasses are vital in gaining a better understanding of the law and its changes, so we highly recommend this for everyone.

And, if you're a Chamber member, you receive a discounted rate for all of our paid training courses, making them even more affordable!

If you are interested in signing up for any of these courses, or want to see what else we have running, please visit the Chamber website
Meet our Member: Aguru

Those looking for a fresh and innovative approach to their marketing campaigns would benefit from giving Aguru a call.

The full service marketing agency, who have recently joined the Chamber of Commerce as a member, is comprised of experts who can provide help for any business looking to reinvigorate their look.

They offer a wide range of services to help your business maximise its potential. Whether you need help capitalising on your digital opportunities with social media management or Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), or whether you need some guidance on the vision of your strategies and campaigns, Aguru will give you the helping hand you need.

They have also taken an active role with the Chamber in the short time they have been a member, attending networking sessions to meet their peers and promote the business, and Lisa Bodden (Co-Founder of Aguru and Marketing Guru) has volunteered for one of our committees.

We spoke with Lisa about her business and what it's like to run a small company in Cayman.

Still Time to Participate in the 2016 Economic Crime Survey

There is still time to take part in the Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Economic Crime Survey

This 2016 edition of the survey is the third conducted within the last decade, and its objectives are to determine the latest trends in economic crime.

The Chamber has partnered with KRyS Global to formulate and distribute the survey, with KRyS Global analysing the findings once the surveys are completed.

If you are managing director or CEO of a business, and you are interested in taking part in our survey, please contact Kerry Pratt at Kerry.pratt@caymanchamber.ky.

Kerry will send you the link to the survey and provide you with all further information you may require.

Chamber Committees Begin Scheduling Inaugural Sessions
people_board_meeting.jpg

The Chamber of Commerce is preparing dates and times for the debut meetings of its committees.

Chamber President Paul Pearson recently sent a letter of thanks and confirmation to the volunteers of each committee recently, explaining that the committees are set to meet towards the end of September.

With the committee meetings fast approaching then, this would be an excellent time for those interested in joining a committee (but haven't done so yet) to inform the Chamber of Commerce.

Further information about our Government Relations, Membership and Community Development, and Marketing and Communications committees can be found on the Chamber website

If you are interested in signing up, please contact Ross Taylor at communications@caymanchamber.ky
Would YOU like online training? Let us know!

The Chamber of Commerce is proud to support its members and the local community with its Professional Development and Training Centre.

Training is a vital part of personal and business growth and our wide range of sessions, ranging from legal masterclasses to SME Workshops, are effective in helping that development.

But the Chamber is aware that not all businesses or individuals can attend our training sessions. So we thought, what about online training?

The Chamber would like your assistance in determining whether or not the implementation of online training sessions would be useful for our Chamber Members.

Below you will find a link to a survey and we would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to complete it.

If your responses indicate so, the Chamber would be excited to bring an extra dimension to its Professional Development and Training Centre, as well as making training available to more people in our community.
