Tony's Toys to celebrate new automotive centre at Business After Hours!
The Chamber of Commerce would like to offer an invitation to our latest Business After Hours event. The evening's host will be Tony's Toys, and the event will be held at their showroom at 91 Sherwood Drive, George Town, at 5:30pm on 16th June 2016.

Meet our Member: Sandy Port
Sandy Port are a flip-flop and beach-item retailer, stocking and selling high-quality and big-brand footwear. Run by Savina Ford and business partner Justine Hall, Sandy Port joined the Chamber Membership last April and have been an active member ever since.
Their actions range from donating gift vouchers and great items to be raffle prizes at one of our Speed Networking sessions, to joining the Leadership Cayman Class of 2015/16.
Savina and Justine's business have been ever-present at Chamber related activities and Chamber led programmes and courses. They also offer all Chamber Members 10% off the goods in the store!

Chamber Staff attend 2-day COSME training session
Chamber of Commerce CEO Wil Pineau and administrative assistant Trisha Meyerhoff attended a 2-day training session in Saint Maarten earlier this month.
The Caymanian pair were providing attendees from English, French, and Dutch overseas territories with vital information and teaching them a range of skills for the newly developed COSME website.
Funded by the European Union, the COSME website (also known as Carib Connect) is designed to strengthen the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises in the Caribbean.
By participating, the Chamber of Commerce is ensuring that entrepreneurs and SMEs in the Cayman Islands can grow and improve.

BE INFORMED session clarifies Ready2Work Programme
Dr. Tasha Ebanks-Garcia spent just over one-and-a-half hours explaining the Ready2Work programme to attendees at the Chamber of Commerce's BE INFORMED session on Wednesday 25th May.
The Chamber conference room was busy with local business owners and representatives wishing to learn more about the initiative, which is helmed by the Ministry of Education, Employment & Gender Affairs.
The session was opened by Chamber President Paul Pearson, and Minister Tara Rivers, both of whom delivered brief opening remarks.
Dr. Ebanks-Garcia followed Minister Rivers with an on-screen presentation, guiding the audience through the basics of the programme. As she explained, the programme consists of 4 phases and is designed to provide unemployed prospects with (initially) short-term employment.

Leadership Cayman Class cruise through latest seminar
The 2016 Leadership Cayman Class completed their latest seminar of the programme last Wednesday, 25th May.
Entitled Stay Over & Cruise Tourism, the seminar allowed the class members to explore Carnival Liner's 'Freedom' ship. They were taken on a tour of the ship and were treated to a lunch on the Lido Deck during their visit.
The session continued later on in the day at the Ritz Carlton (who also sponsored the seminar) where the class enjoyed dinner, before discussing the events of the day and engaging in a Q&A with the invited guest panellists.

Department of Tourism prepares for Only In Cayman 2016
The following is a message from the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
As we gear up what for what we hope to be a busy summer travel season, we begin to shift focus to the planning and execution of our annual autumn promotion, Fall Only in Cayman.
The programme is designed to stimulate travel to the Cayman Islands from September to December.
As we will be promoting this through an integrated advertising campaign, CIDOT encourages you to submit compelling offerings that will stimulate additional business during our traditionally slower shoulder season.

Culture & Heritage Policy Survey open to the public
Progress continues on the creation of the Cayman Islands' first National Culture and Heritage Policy and Strategic Plan.
There is now a comprehensive survey designed to garner widest possible feedback from all individuals in the Cayman Islands, so that the public is given full access to contribute to this important policy.
The survey is designed to give the public the opportunity to have a voice in the information-gathering stage of the policy formation as well as to contribute to what will become the vision, values and potential objectives of the policy.

Throne Speech, Policy Statement and Budget Address delivered
The Legislative Assembly on Monday, 30 May 2016 began its new session for the year with the State Opening which had Cayman Islands Government leaders setting the tone for the coming year with three major presentations.
First, Her Excellency the Governor, Helen Kilpatrick, CB (pictured), delivered the Throne Speech, outlined key Government projects in the coming year. She also congratulated the Government for "its careful stewardship and adherence to the principles of good governance." Earlier outside, she inspected a Royal Cayman Islands Police Service guard of honour and received the Royal Salute.
Following the Governor, Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin, MBE, JP, presented Government's Budget Policy Statement titled "Delivering on our Promises".
