Earth Day Clean-Up & NEW Family Fun Day, April 16. Volunteers needed!
The Chamber is currently recruiting volunteer teams for the annual Earth Day Clean-Up 2016.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 16, 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. for clean-up with refreshments at 10 a.m. and a new FAMILY FUN DAY with games, watersports and MORE!
The first 1,000 volunteers will receive an official Earth Day T-Shirt, Cap, water bottle and reusable shopping bag, latex gloves and garbage bags. They will also receive a wrist-band giving them access to food and free watersports rentals.

Chamber SPEED NETWORKING returns
The Chamber's second Speed Networking session is set for Friday, 22 April from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the Chamber's Governors Square office.
Lunch will be provided giving attendees the opportunity for creating and developing new business contacts and connections in a relaxed setting. After lunch eight (8) members will be selected via raffle and given the opportunity to showcase their organisation to the rest of the group. The last Speed Networking session was a resounding success with 15 members attending and making valuable contacts. This is an opportunity that should not be missed!

New EU Funding opportunity for SMEs
Are you the owner of an SME (Small to Micro Enterprise) with a brilliant business idea, but without the scientific expertise to bring it to life?
Are you an established SME, or business start-up looking for high-level expertise for business expansion?
The European Commission will be selecting up to 90 SMEs and Start-ups with the most innovative ideas and best recruitment plans to benefit from the all-costs-paid expertise of a PhD level researcher from another EU Member State for the duration of one year.

Public meeting held to discuss new Trade & Business Licensing Law
Over 45 people attended the public meeting to discuss the new Trade and Business Licensing Law on Thursday, 31 March from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Town Hall in George Town.
The session focused on health and pension requirements. Representatives from the Department of Commerce and Investment, Health Commission and Pensions Office were present to answer questions.
Chamber President Paul Pearson was in attendance and delivered some opening remarks.

Council tours Kimpton Seafire Resort
The Chamber Council was treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Kimpton Seafire Resort on Thursday, March 31.
Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd. Is introducing the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman; the boutique hotel brand's first Caribbean property, and The Residences at Seafire. The property topped out in August, and the design team is focusing its attention on the build-out of the extraordinary interior spaces. The resort and residences are on schedule for opening in November 2016.

Council lunches with Governor
In keeping with one of the Chamber's Strategic plan goals to keep the channels of communication open with Government, a lunch meeting was held with Her Excellency the Governor Helen Kilpatrick on Friday, April 1.
The Governor spoke with Council Members on the state of relations between the Cayman Islands and the UK, policing matters, the progress of the Project Future programme and beneficial ownership to name a few.

Leadership Cayman participants hear about Immigration challenges
Sponsored by KPMG, the fifth seminar of the Leadership Cayman (LC) 2016 programme was held on March 30th, 2016 at Greenlight Re, Camana Bay.
The Cayman Islands Department of Immigration has two central functions: to protect the country's borders and to manage migration to the Islands. In performing these functions, the Department and its officers (acting under the authority of the Islands' immigration legislation) are responsible for controlling entry and stay in the Islands, and for the processing of applications for work permits, permanent residence and many other categories of residence.

COSME Representatives visit Cayman
Dr. Noel Watson, CEO of the A-Z Information Jamaica Ltd., a consultant hired by a regional programme funded by the European Union in support of the development of Small to Medium Sized Enterprises in the Overseas Territories, and Denise Leander-Watson met with representatives from the Chamber Council, C.I. Small Business Association, Ministry of Commerce and the Economics and Statistics Unit on Monday, 4th April.
