George Town waterfront improvements continue

 
Caymanian architect Robert Johnson is passionate about improving George Town's historic waterfront.

Mr. Johnson recently met with the Chamber Council to update them on the progress he and 12 land owners are making to redevelop a 1,272 linear foot area stretching from Da Fish Shack Restaurant to the cruise ship terminal. The most recent segment has been built adjacent to the Fish Market by Chris Johnson, Robert's father, who's keen to support the beautification efforts along North Church Street.

Annual state of business survey underway

How did your business perform in 2014 and what is the outlook for 2015? Do you plan to add any additional staff or to move into a large office?

The Chamber's annual State of Business survey provides members with an opportunity to provide an update about how their business is performing so the Council can understand the state of the economy and the issues that members are experiencing.

 

The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete HERE and will help the Council to identify the top issues of concern.

Speed Networking to begin in June
 

The Chamber will introduce its new initiative "Speed Networking" on Thursday 18th June from 12.30 - 1:30 p.m.

                                                                                                         

Speed Networking will provide the opportunity for members to introduce and showcase their business and themselves to other participants in a 5 minute time frame. The networking takes place in a social environment with the prospect of creating and developing new business contacts and connections.

 

Lunch will be provided and a raffle will be drawn at the end of the session. If your organisation is interested in taking part, please contact Nicola at 743-9129 or membership@caymanchamber.ky.

2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season begins 1st June
 

Members are urged to update your contact information so that you receive regular updates from the Cayman Islands Government for this year's Atlantic Hurricane season which begins on 1st June.  

 

The first storm, Ana, developed a month before the official start of the season, becoming the first pre-season tropical or subtropical cyclone since 2012's Beryl, the earliest-forming cyclone since 2003's Ana, and the second-earliest cyclone on record to strike the United States.

Leadership Cayman begins class project

 

This year's Leadership Cayman group met on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 to start their class project; sprucing up the "Meals on Wheels" facility in George Town.  

 

Class participants worked together to power wash the exterior walls and to prepare the building for the next steps. The group will meet in the coming weeks to complete the project, which will include painting and replacing signs on the building.

Mentoring Cayman 2015 comes to a close

 

The 2014-2015 Mentoring Cayman programme is coming to a close in the next few weeks. Congratulations to the students and mentors for completing this important journey together. There will be a graduation ceremony held at the Governor's residence on Wednesday, 17 June 2015 to provide awards to each of the students and mentors.

The Chamber of Commerce is inviting business leaders and senior managers to participate in the Mentoring Cayman programme for the 2015-2016 academic year. Mentors from all industry sectors are encouraged to submit an application.

2nd Chamber Information Session a hit

 

The Chamber's 2nd Chamber Information Session, held Friday, 15th May was met with a great turnout of both new and future members.  Lunch was provided and was followed by a presentation by Chamber CEO Wil Pineau, CCE, outlining facts about the Chamber, its members and the events, programmes and advertising opportunities available.

 

A special Thank You to Chamber Members Treat's Restaurant for providing lunch and XQ's and Cost-U-Less for donating raffle prizes.
