 | Addie at Spirit Village, Pentecost Sunday 2013 |
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Members of St. Cyprian's,
Two quotes featured on Inward/Outward about a month ago, especially spoke to me on this beautiful San Francisco day as I made my way through the city on Muni.
We come from God and live in God and in the 'interim' we live in the presence of God--even when we do not know or acknowledge it. We are created in the image of God (the entire universe reflects God's glory, each and every creature and thing in its particular, concrete, unique way). Creation is a panoply of mind-boggling diversity, a myriad of outrageously extravagant species and individuals who all together make up the body of God.... Each creature praises God by simply being itself, by being fully alive.

Solidarity, compassion, caring, communion and loving--such values and inner powers can lay the foundation of a new paradigm of civilization, the civilization of the humanity reunited in the Common House, on the Planet Earth... Our mission is to celebrate the greatness of Creation and connect it again to the Core where it came from and to where it will go, with care, lightness, joy, reverence and love.

St. Cyprian's is a place of mind-boggling diversity, and we are a place that is fully alive as we seek to be a Common House for our neighborhood. Our street names alone communicate that we are located at the corner of two extremes: Turk runs through one part of our city, and Lyon across another. May this corner always invite opportunities for deeper engagement, conversation, reflection and inspiration amidst ever more expansive forms of diversity.
 | Bhi Bhiman Album Launch SF Live Arts at Cyprian's Saturday, May 18, 2013 |
Last Saturday night, our sanctuary was packed for a concert that included performers whose backgrounds included Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. And on Sunday, while Bay 2 Breakers filled the streets with wildly dressed runners, for those who had ears to hear, another festival was happening at the same time--one that acknowledged the Divine Spirit's inflaming of every heart. Happy Pentecost, St. Cyprian's...
See you soon at Turk & Lyon!
Peace,
Will
