Dear Friends, Neighbors and Members of St. Cyprian's,

Happy Thanksgiving! Here's a poem, prayer, a song from Johnny Cash,

We've come to the time in the season
When family and friends gather near
To offer a prayer of Thanksgiving
For blessings we've known through the year
To join hands and thank the creator
And now when Thanksgiving is due
This year when I count my blessings
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

This year when I count my blessings
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

I'm grateful for the laughter of children
The sun and the wind and the rain
The color of blue in your sweet eyes
The sight of a high ball and train
The moon rise over a prairie
Old love that you've made new
This year when I count my blessings
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

This year when I count my blessings
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

And when the time comes to be going
It won't be in sorrow and tear
I'll kiss you goodbye and I'll go on my way
Grateful for all of the years
I thank for all that you gave me
For teaching me what love can do
Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

Thanksgiving day for the rest of my life
I'm thanking the Lord He made you.

Thank you to the folks at Patheos for sharing this song, you can check out a video clip of the song here.

This year when I count my blessings
I'm thanking the Lord for making you, St. Cyprian's.

See you soon at Turk & Lyon!

Peace,

Will

St. Cyprian's honored by
San Francisco Interfaith Council

On Tuesday, at their 15th Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast St. Cyprian's was among 11 faith communities honored by the San Francisco Interfaith Council for our commitment to ecology and resilience. Tommie & Willie Collie along with St. Cyprian's clergy attended the breakfast. Among the speakers at the breakfast were The Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Mayor Ed Lee, Rabbi Stephen Pierce and The Reverend Canon Sally Bingham, founder of Interfaith Power & Light.

Tommie & Willie were invited to receive the acknowledgement because of their role in a greening project many years ago at St. Cyprian's, helping to find and plant the tree through Friends of the Urban Forest that stands on St. Cyprian's Lyon Street side.

 Volunteer

Appreciation Party

Last Sunday, November 18th St. Cyprian's and Cyprian's arc held a celebration honoring all the volunteers who are integral to everything that is happening at Turk & Lyon.

The celebration included food, music, entertainment & a special gift for those who are giving so much of their time, energy and gifts to our mission of  "creating a community where everyone matters."  Special thanks to Cyprian's arc event coordinator Allison Schaub and designer Kevin Barnard for all their assistance in making this event such a good time for everyone.

Michael Helquist received the first St. Cyprian's/cyprian's arc
Volunteer of the Year Award
for helping Turk & Lyon become the intersection of arts, resilience and community. Photos of special memories with Michael have been added alongside other influential people at St. Cyprian's.

Big thanks to youth of The Village Project and Rin Tin Tiger for helping celebrate the volunteers!

Thank you Wigg Party!

Our neighbors and partners in building a resilient community threw a party last Saturday night at St. Cyprian's to help gather support for our work together. Despite heavy rain, a good size crowd of "urban sustainability guerrillas" gathered for games, comedy, music and a clothing swap.
St. Cyprian's & Cyprian's arc are blessed to work with the Wigg Party and other neighborhood groups as we together seek to build a community where everyone matters.

Thank you to Wigg Party co-founders, Clint Womack and
Morgan Fitzgibbons for their enthusiastic support.
The Wigg Party takes their name from the Wiggle, a beloved bicycle path linking the Panhandle with Market Street.

Thanks also to the inspiring and lively music of Shake Your Peace.

everyone matters...
every ple
dge matters.

St. Cyprian's & Cyprian's arc relies on the generosity and faithful stewardship of our members, friends and neighbors. We want to do more than just keep the lights on, building clean, and operations running smoothly for the hundreds of people coming through our doors each month and pay our part-time employees. Every week new programs, events and activities are added to the calendar, every day new people come to Turk & Lyon seeking a place of
hope, engagement, and guidance.

Not only to keep us going, but also to help us grow into the lively spiritually rooted community our neighborhood is seeking, please take a moment to consider about how much St. Cyprian's & Cyprian's arc matters to you.  We will collect and bless 2013 pledge cards on
Sunday, December 23rd. Please be sure to fill out your card and send it in or bring it with you so we can plan our budget for the year ahead.
