March 21, 2014

Please enjoy the latest edition of VNA E-News.

Spring is in the Air!

There might be snow on the ground and the temperatures may feel more like January, but Spring is in bloom at the VNA!

We happily invite you to join us as we usher in warmth and sunshine and color at the:

Spring Blooms! Fashion Show and Luncheon

Thursday, April 10

beginning at 11:30am

Held at the Sheraton Hotel in Burlington, this annual event offers food, fashions and fun while raising money for the Janet S. Munt Family Room, the VNA's Parent-Child Center.

VNA friends will model the latest fashions from SportStyle, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Jess Boutique and Stella Mae: Miss Vermont Jeanelle Achee, Jessica Brumsted, John Brumsted, MD, Sarah DeShaw, Kyle Dodson, Zoe Erdman, Al Gobeille, Kim Gobeille, Sybil Keefe, The Hon. Madeleine Kunin, Fayneese Miller, Darren Perron, Judy Peterson, Tammy Shannon and Autumn Spencer.

Money raised by this event goes to benefit the Family Room's many programs, services and resources that are free to at-risk families and their children from birth to age 6. Programs include parent support groups, a licensed preschool, fatherhood programs, baby massage, and classes like English as a Second Language and cooking.  The Family Room served nearly 500 families with these programs last year.

We are especially thankful to our sponsors who are helping to make this event a success: Northfield Savings Bank, Hanson & Doremus Investment Management, Paul Frank + Collins, Bergeron, Paradis & Fitzpatrick, Morris Switzer, Peregrine Design Build, Pines Senior Living Community, Pomerleau Real Estate, Prentiss Smith & Company, Inc., Queen City Printers, Inc., Julie Ann Spaniel, DDS, Inc., Coldwell Banker Hickok and Boardman Realty, Gadue's Dry Cleaning, Jivana Holistic Spa, The Lodge at Shelburne Bay, Main Street Landing, New England Federal Credit Union, Wake Robin, and Vermont Tent Company.

VNA on Across the Fence

From left, host Judy Simpson, show producer Will Mikell, VNA End-of-Life Director Angel Means, Vermont Respite House Volunteer Pat Myette
VNA's End-of-Life Director Angel Means and Respite House Volunteer Pat Myette were on hand to talk with Across the Fence host Judy Simpson about Vermont Respite House, VNA's Medicare certified home away from home for those with a terminal illness. Angel and Pat talk about the kind of care received at the Respite House, who could benefit from this care and the role of a Hospice volunteer.

To catch them on Across the Fence, tune in Monday, March 24, at 12:10 pm on WCAX.

Adult Day Volunteers

V olunteers are the heart and soul of the VNA. Their time, talents and dedication to our mission have helped the VNA serve upwards of 5,000 individuals and families each year, for which we are especially grateful.

We currently have many great opportunities to volunteer in our three Adult Day programs in Colchester, South Burlington and Williston, leading groups of elderly people and adults with physical and cognitive impairments in a variety of activities. Do you have experience and/or expertise in gardening, woodworking, knitting and art? Do you like to cook or read stories? Do you have an interesting travel story you would like to share?

To view a list of activity opportunities, please visit www.vnacares.org/adultday.  All volunteers receive free training.

For more information, call 860-4407 or email volunteer@vnacares.org.

If you no longer wish to receive emails from us, click the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email and you will be removed from our list.

Any suggestions for stories can be sent to info@vnacares.org.

Sincerely,
