The summer months are a time when many people look forward to a relaxing vacation, a break from day-to-day responsibilities. But if you are caring for a loved one, this can be an especially stressful time. Additional worries are added during the summer months. You may worry about leaving your loved one alone when you go on vacation or you may worry about loved ones traveling themselves.
Beverly Gover, VNA's Private Care Team Coordinator, is familiar with this story. She and the team for VNA Private Care Services work with families to help them find care for their loved ones when they can't be there. Our caregivers can help be those ears, eyes and hands for you so you can have a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation and a stress-free summer. Beverly shared some recent examples of how families benefited from this support.
"We recently heard from a family who were about to leave on a two-week vacation when their mother was admitted to the hospital. They were worried about their father being home alone while they went on vacation. The family arranged with the VNA to have Private Care services so that their Dad would be well taken care of while they were on vacation. This allowed the family to know that things back home were under control and provided them peace of mind to enjoy their time away."
