A Career Adventure at the VNA
|
| Celia Bora, RN |
Celia Bora, RN is the Adult High-Tech Supervisor for the Visiting Nurse Association of Chittenden and Grand Isle Counties. She recently shared her story on our VNA blog about the career path she took at the VNA.
I came to Vermont to attend the UVM Nursing Program. I was just out of high school, with no special certifications, but I knew that I really wanted to find employment in the health care field. I was thrilled when I applied and was hired to become a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) at the VNA.
I loved being a PCA. I met so many sweet people, enjoyed the work, and really helped people! I was amazed how appreciative people were for the smallest things I did, like cooking a hot meal, grocery shopping, playing cards or just having a good conversation to pass the time. It made me feel like I was doing something valuable. That it really mattered.
Want to learn more about the benefits of working at the VNA? Visit our Careers page at www.vnacares.org/careers.
We have an upcoming PCA Open House to learn more about the PCA Training program at the VNA. Come to the VNA's main office, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, on June 18 or June 19 at 9:30 am to learn more.

End-of-Year Giving
|
Each year, more and more people in our community turn to the VNA for help with increasingly complex home care needs. Last year, we cared for over 4,800 individuals and families in seven diverse program areas.
The VNA depends on support from our community to provide care to our neighbors in need. Last year, charitable care totaled $1,400,000. It is with your generosity that the VNA can continue to serve all who turn to us. We thank you for your past support of the VNA. If you would like to help us reach our 2013 VNA Annual Fund goal, please consider giving a tax deductible gift before the close of our fiscal year on June 30.
Lives are changed each and every day at the VNA and it's your support that helps make our caring possible.

Colorful Weekend at Camp Knock Knock
|
Campers and volunteers were awed and inspired by the beautiful rainbow that graced the sky during this year's Camp Knock Knock, held May 31, June 1 and 2 at the YMCA's Camp Abnaki. Twelve families attended the VNA's annual grief and bereavement camp for families with children who have lost a loved one.
