Fun Run Fun!
|
| Some of our young VNA volunteers: Grace Perry, Leah Boget and Clare Stackpole-McGrath |
The sun peeked through the clouds on Saturday, May 11, for our 2013 Vermont Respite House 5K Fun Run & Jiggety Jog. Thanks to our 240 participants and volunteers and our corporate and individual sponsors, we reached our goal of $50,000 for Vermont Respite House, Vermont's only Medicare-certified inpatient hospice residence .And there is still time to give! We are leaving our online fundraising pages open through June for people who would still like to donate. You may either donate to a friend's fundraising page or you can donate on the VNA's First Giving page by clicking the Donate Button below. Thanks to everyone who played a part in this year's successful event! Want to see the results of the timed run? We've got those posted for you, too. Click here to check it out.

Marathon Weekend!
|
It's Marathon Weekend in the Burlington area and runners are gearing up for the 25th KeyBank Vermont City Marathon and Relay. Your VNA is joining in the fun this year with two relay teams made up of VNA staff and friends. Deb Brady heads up one of the teams, which also includes Rob Sharpe and his wife Donna, Meghan Crowley and Jaina Clough.
Mike Garrett is the captain of the other relay team which also includes Jim Manahan, Roger Cooke, Toby Stewart and Mike's wife Sue. Two VNA staff, Carrie Shamel and Scott Barras, will be running the entire marathon this weekend.

Mike says, "I love running to stay healthy and the Vermont City Marathon is just a great event. It has a beautiful course, the community support is fabulous, and just being there is exciting. When you are waiting for the start and you hear the announcers and the national anthem, it feels great to be part of something very special and good."
VNA has fun on the sidelines every year, as well. Staff member Patty Hampton opens up her yard to VNA friends and family to cheer on runners who pass by her home. And for the last couple of years, she has put up a VNA banner in her yard. "It's fun to cheer on the runners and have some of the runners cheer back for the VNA," Patty says.
