Memorial Tree Lighting and Remembrance Ceremony
|
 Join us this Sunday for our annual Vermont Respite House memorial service, a chance to gather to honor and remember our loved ones. During the ceremony, the names of all Vermont Respite House residents in 2012 will be read. This year's ceremony will take place:
Sunday, January 13, 2013 2 - 4 pm
Williston Federated Church Williston, VT
There is still time if you would like to participate by sponsoring a bulb for the Vermont Respite House Memorial Tree. This tree remains lit during the holiday season. Your $10 gift will light a bulb in memory of the person or persons you have named to be honored. These names are included in the printed program at the ceremony. Following the ceremony, you are invited to join us at Vermont Respite House to see our tree and share in some refreshments.

50+ Expo

On Saturday, January 26, Vermont Maturity Magazine proudly presents the 18th Annual Vermont 50+ and Baby Boomers EXPO. Held at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in South Burlington, VT, the event runs from 9 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $5 at the door or $4 in advance and available by calling (802) 872-9000 x19. The VNA is a proud sponsor of this event which features a wide variety of interactive exhibits and informative seminars and workshops.  During the Expo, the VNA will host a workshop titled What You Can Do to Prevent Falls, presented by Martha Brown, PT, MS, at 1:15 pm. At the workshop, participants will learn how to build strength, increase flexibility and improve balance by making small changes to their everyday routines. The interactive presentation will give participants techniques and tips to reduce the risk for falls and injury in their homes while doing common household tasks. Powerful Tools for Caregivers
|
 Caring for a family member or a loved one can be challenging. Your VNA can help navigate these caring challenges with Powerful Tools for Caregivers. This six-week course is designed to provide caregivers the tools they need to care for themselves so they can more effectively care for their loved one. You will learn to:
- Reduce stress
- Improve self-confidence
- Balance your life
- Better communicate your feelings
- Increase ability to make tough decisions
- Locate helpful resources
Classes are led by Kate Kreider, RN, VNA Adult Day Program Site Manager and Wendy Bombard, RN, VNA Adult Day Program Clinical Coordinator. Both bring with them their experience and expertise in caring for persons in the home.
This 6-week program will be held at VNA Grand Way Adult Day, Grand Way Commons, 412 Farrell St, So. Burlington
Mondays, January 14-February 18, 2013 6 - 7:30 pm

Angel Means, VNA Director of End-of-Life Care will share information on palliative and hospice care, how to access care and why talking to your family about your end-of-life care plans is so important.
