Happy Spring,

Even though the snow is still coming, I hope you are enjoying some of our sporadic warm days as our school year moves into spring. I know that my children are happy that the sun goes down a little later in the day!  This month PEN has an incredible speaker, Anna Stewart. Anna is the School and Community Liaison for BVSD, and will be presenting on Making a Smooth Transition to middle or high school on April 10th from 6:30-8:30 at the BVSD Ed Center.  This presentation is for ALL parents who want the knowledge, tools, and peace of mind to help their child navigate what can be an exciting and challenging time. If you have a child that will be going to middle or high school next year, this is the best time to start preparing!   ...

Past Events

Molly Wingate and Marti Woodward's presentation on 3/12, Slow Parenting, sponsored by Eldorado K-8 PEN was a well-attended, lively event. The authors of Slow Parenting Teens engaged the audience in a workshop to help identify the traits needed to be the most influential person in your child's life and what hinders that relationship. Molly and Marti's approach is to slow down your interactions with your children in order to build your relationship with them. "The worst habit that parents and professionals have that discourages good relationships is that we look at what is wrong!" Please go to their website to learn more - www.slowparentingteens.com or Facebook at

PEN COMMUNITY COLLABORATORS

Featured Collaborator

It's been such an honor to be part of PEN for so many years. And I love that I can give back to the community by being a PEN presenter. I am a single parent of three unique teens so my kids and I have made the transition into middle school and into high school and beyond personally and I have also worked with over 1000 parents through my job with BVSD as the Parent, School and Community Liaison (as part of the Special Education department). Just this week I spoke with quite a few parents getting anxious about the transitions into middle and high school. Over the years I have learned what makes a smooth transition for ALL students and that includes our sons and daughter with special needs. Part of my role with BVSD is to be available to provide information, resources and support with parents. I also host events, workshops, and parent network groups and I am the SEAC (Special Education Advisory Council Coordinator for BVSD and have recently been appointed on the Colorado SEAC as well. These are some of the events I have in addition to the April 10th PEN presentation. I hope you can join me! Read more ...
