Teacher Feature
Introducing one of the district's many wonderful teachers each month.

David Rockower, right, and his wife and children.
David Rockower, Delta Middle Level

Currently in his 16th year of teaching, David Rockower has taught grades 4, 5, and 6, and has worked as a learning enrichment teacher and librarian. Though he's enjoyed teaching all subject areas, his true passion is guiding students to become lifelong readers and writers. He is currently working with Jon Downs to develop the new middle school initiative at Delta. Beginning this fall, Delta will expand to include grades 5-8 where David will teach reading and writing.

Through his affiliation with The Centre Teacher Writers, he's published articles in Education Week, Teaching PreK-8, Catalyst for Change, and The Centre Daily Times. For the past three years, he's written a bi-monthly column (titled Family Matters) in State College Magazine. Writing allows him to reflect on his development as an educator and to share his struggles and accomplishments with others in the field.

In his free time David enjoys reading, writing, running, baking bread and spending time with his wife and two inspiring children.
