Back to School!
  First day of school Fall 2013
Our schools came back to life again on Aug. 27 as energetic students arrived for the first day of school. Teachers had everything ready for a great first day.

A change for parents this year is entering data online that previously came home to them on a paper form. A few bugs in the new system have complicated the process but are being addressed. Please be sure to login and update your information. Parents who have any problems entering their data in the online portal or Home Access Center (HAC) can contact online@scasd.org or call 231-7744.
High School Building Project Update
* Board to vote on final concept September 9
At their regular board meeting on Sept. 9, 7:00 p.m. the board will decide which of the two remaining concepts to take to the voters in a referendum. On July 22, they unanimously voted to continue concept B (two buildings on either side of Westerly Pkwy., with renovations and additions to the current buildings connected by a walkway or bridge) and concept D (one new/renovated building with classrooms on the South side of Westerly Pkwy., while retaining some portions of the North building) for further consideration. Now they will pick one concept and a budget amount.

Please join us to learn more:
* Community Forum, Sept. 11, 7 p.m.
Topic: an overview of the proposed educational model, further discussion on the final concept selected by the board on Sept. 9, updated project calendar and a brief discussion of budget planning. District board members, administrators and members of the architectural team will be present to answer questions and provide more information. The meeting will be held in the High School South Auditorium but please park at the North Building.

*One optional tour of the high school buildings will depart from from the HS South lobby at 5:30 and return at 6:30 p.m. prior to the forum.
Memorial Field Update
Renovations to Memorial Field are progressing well in preparation for the opening home varsity football game Friday, Sept. 6.

Memorial Field Sept. 6 2013
The artificial turf is good to go and has been used for practices and JV games.
The west side bleachers are quickly being installed (above) and we plan to have them available for the first home game tonight. Work on the west wall and sidewalk continues, however, and Fraser Street is still closed.
Help children learn by fostering their interests

In this inspiring program, you'll learn why you and your child often deal with daily demands by reacting emotionally rather than responding thoughtfully - and what you can do about it!
