Dear Friend of Community Education,

Spring program registration is underway!  Learn a new skill in the Pottery, Photography, Intermediate, or Sign Language courses.  A sampling of courses is listed below.  

COMPUTER BASICS AND MORE IN THE HOME  

Learn basic or specialized computer skills at your own pace in the
comfort of your own home.  By appointment for SCASD residents.   
 

 POTTERY FOR ALL LEVELS

Learn basic wheel throwing techniques focusing on two major shapes, the cylinder and the bowl.  Explore decorating, trimming, and basic glaze techniques.  Offered on Mondays, March 11 - April 26, 6:00-8:30 pm, Lower Level, Fairmount Avenue School.   Instructor:  Trish Wilson 
Fee: $140 (Includes 25 pounds of clay).

PHOTOGRAPHY, INTERMEDIATE

Improve your techniques related to shooting, aperture, shutter speed, and setting.  Adobe Photoshop[ Elements 11 will be utilized for editing purposes.  Offered Tuesdays, March 12 - April 16, 6:30-8:30 pm, Room 236, High School North  

Instructor: Rafael Izakov   

Fee: $85  

 

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE

Learn basic conversation skills as well as cultural aspects of the deaf community.  Topics include:  finger spelling, reading proper names, numbers, the alphabet, and common phrases.  Offered Tuesdays, March 12 - April 30, 7:00-8:30 pm, Room 172, Park Forest Middle School    

Instructor:  Amy Lawrence  

Fee: $105 (includes a text) 

 

 PAYING FOR YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATION

Paying for your child's education can be a financial challenge! Learn about tax advantages of saving money in Uniform Gift to Minors as well as Section 529 College Savings Accounts, where your money grows tax free and you pay no income tax on withdrawals if the money is used for qualified college education expenses.  Offered Wednesdays, March 13, 20, & April 3, 7:00-8:30  pm, Room 109, High School South.

Fee: $60
