Troop 234 Parents and Scout Leaders

The scouts who attended the Troop Leadership Training day viewed and then discussed some anti-bullying videos.

I introduced these not because of any specific incident, actually I don't know of any incidents that occurred this summer!

While preparing a website of anti-bullying references for adult leaders and older scouts I came across a video that was produced by some students at Campolindo a couple of years ago.

It's an amazing video and I shared it at the Troop Leadership day:

It Gets Better: Campolindo High School
It Gets Better: Campolindo High School

These are kids who grew up here, so this is a local problem.  I also showed the scouts, the following Public Service Add:

Think Before You Speak - Cashier
Think Before You Speak - Cashier

So, you can help too.  The next time you hear anyone use "gay" in a derogatory way tell them to "knock it off".  The next time someone calls someone else a "retard" tell them that it's not OK.

It's the least we can do to help make our community more welcoming for every child.

I also showed a couple of other videos.

If you'd like to see the site I'm working on it is located here.

No More Walking Away Website

Let me know if you have anything you think I should add to the website or ideas on making our community better.

I've asked the PLC to develop an anti-bullying policy and I am looking for scouts to help add a page to our website, and make a presentation to the entire troop and/or individual patrols.

Yours in Scouting,

Mr. Baker
