Missional Network is Blessed to Be a Blessing
The Greensboro Central missional network recently learned of an opportunity to reach out and bless a sister church in the network. When it was learned that the Cedarcrest Golf Course in McLeansville was sponsoring a golf tournament on Saturday, June 28 to assist Bessemer UMC raise funds to replace the sanctuary heating unit, the churches began to discuss how they could help with the project.
Besides getting the word out regarding the upcoming golf tournament, network churches volunteered funds to get the drive started. On June 13, Rev. David Melton, senior pastor of West Market St. UMC and Dr. John Franklin Howard, senior pastor of Mount Pleasant UMC, representing the churches of the Greensboro Central missional network, met with the financial officers of Bessemer UMC, and Becky Lowdermilk, the owner of the Cedarcrest Golf Course, the tournament sponsor (and member of Bessemer UMC) to present a check to the church on behalf of the missional network. Rev. Melton stated, "We are doing this because we believe in the connection, and because we want to demonstrate in a tangible way that the Greensboro Central missional network loves and supports the people of Bessemer UMC." Dr. Howard added, "The Bible teaches that God blesses us to be a blessing to others. We see that as a guiding principle of the Greensboro Central missional network."
For more information about participating in the Bessemer UMC Benefit Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 28, contact Cedarcrest Golf Course at (336) 697-8251. Click here to download a registration form for the golf tournament.
The churches of the Greensboro Central missional network are: Bessemer, Centenary, Christ, College Place, Glenwood, Grace, Immanuel, Metropolitan, Mount Pleasant, St Matthews, Union Memorial, and West Market Street.
