Dear Parents & Guardians of BMS Students:
I am very excited about the upcoming school year. During the month of August and throughout the school year, I will continue to utilize the weekly BMS eNewsletter for communication, announcements, and important dates.
SCHEDULES
I will release schedules on Infinite Campus during the week of Aug. 12. New families to BMS will have schedules mailed home the week of Aug. 12, or can pick them up during initial scheduling meetings. Schedules were inadvertently released in all four buildings on Aug. 1. Although a majority of the schedules were completed, we are still making changes to some sections and adding advisory periods.
6TH GRADE ORIENTATION/LOCKERS
I understand that is a very anxious time - especially for the 6th graders transitioning into the middle school. Sixth grade orientation is Aug. 23, 9 am - 1 pm. All 6th grade schedules will be printed out and locker assignments will be handed out during orientation.
7TH/8TH GRADE LOCKERS
Locker combinations for 7th and 8th grader will be release through Infinite Campus on Tuesday, Aug. 20. All students can visit their lockers early on Aug. 21 and Aug. 22, 9 am - 5 pm, if they wish to place supplies in them before school starts. No students should be in the building on Aug. 26 or Aug. 27, as these are teacher professional development days at the Middle School.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
School resumes on Aug. 28. There will be no late start on this day - school starts at 7:30 am. I will have additional schedules with locker combinations available the first day of school.
SCHOOL FORMS
School forms may be found on the district's online Back-to-School Center and on the BMS Forms & Information web page. You need to print out and complete all forms under "Required Forms." These forms are due in 1st period on the first day of school. The latest these forms will be accepted is Friday, Aug. 30. All forms are to be submitted to your child's 1st period teacher. It is extremely important to have these forms in on time. Laptops will not be distributed to your child until all forms are completed.
STUDENT FEES
There are no student fees this school year other than the $50 laptop insurance fee. These fees can be paid directly online or by check. Laptop fees will be collected for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. After 1st quarter, I plan to let 6th graders take laptops home. Seventh and 8th graders will receive laptops during the second week of school.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL EVENTS
I look forward to meeting all of you at Mitchell's Ice Cream meet-and-greet on Aug. 13, or at Open House on Sept. 12.
Sincerely,
Paul Chase, Principal
Beachwood Middle School
