Professing Evangelicals Are Assisting the Pope in His Agenda to Reverse the Reformation

On July 16th, Pope Francis will be calling for unity among all Christians at an ecumenical prayer rally in Washington, D.C. Hundreds of thousands of Christians will hear his video message along with messages from evangelical leaders Ronnie Floyd, Ravi Zacharias, Luis Palau, Josh McDowell, Francis Chan, Ann Voskamp, and others. Organizers of the event are attempting to gather one million Christians and Catholics in unified prayer and worship with a goal to bring unity to all who "love Jesus." The event, called Together 2016, is about laying aside what divides us to lift up Jesus who unites us.

Nick Hall, the founder of PULSE, who came up with the idea for Together 2016, said adding the Pope to the lineup is the best news yet. He said, "We are humbled and honored by his involvement and are eager to share his message with the crowd that gathers. That His Holiness would choose to speak into this historic day is a testament to the urgency and the need for followers of Jesus to unite in prayer for our nation and our world." While some may admire Hall's zeal, it is clearly not based on knowledge. For him to refer to a wolf in sheep's clothing as "His Holiness" demonstrates his lack of knowledge of God's Word. God alone is holy! Anyone who does not know Scripture cannot discern between holiness and depravity or between true and false prophets.

The evangelicals who will speak with the pope need to know that the Lord Jesus did not come to bring peace on earth but rather division (Luke 12:51). His Gospel has always divided believers from unbelievers. The Lord Jesus said He is the door that must be entered for salvation (John 10:9). Those words caused division among the people who heard them (John 10:19). Clearly, those who have been sanctified by the Gospel must avoid uniting with those who embrace another gospel and have deserted Christ (Gal. 1:6-9).

The evangelical leaders scheduled to speak with the false prophet of Rome either do not know the exclusivity of the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, or they do not know the false and fatal gospel of Catholicism; or perhaps they know, but chose to be disobedient to Scripture. God's Word gives us a clear command: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? What agreement has the temple of God with idols?" (2 Cor. 6:14-16). Evangelicals who worship God in Spirit and truth must have no agreement with Catholics who worship idols, relics and a false Christ. To do so would be seeking to please men over God (Gal. 1:10).

The evangelical leaders who are planning to stand with the Pope will betray the Gospel, the Reformation, and all those martyred by Rome. It was the Word of God proclaimed by the Reformers that broke the tyrannical hold of the popes over the visible church. Now these evangelicals are aiding and abetting the Pope's attempt to reverse the Reformation. The truths that set the Reformers free from religious bondage and deception are being suppressed or ignored.

It is very disturbing to see evangelical leaders cooperating with the enemies of Christ and His Gospel. The apostate church of Rome has condemned Christians with over 100 anathemas for believing the infallible truths of God's Word. We must wonder if these evangelicals know that the worship of the Eucharist and veneration of Mary is idolatry (Ex. 20:3-5)? Don't they know that Rome's plan of salvation is a false gospel that condemns those who teach it (Gal. 1:6-9)? Don't they know that the sacrifice of the Mass and the dogma of Purgatory is a blatant denial of the finished, perfect, and sufficient work of Christ's atonement (Heb. 10:10-18)?

As more and more evangelical leaders embrace the Pope as a brother-in-Christ, they must be warned and called to repentance. Those who promote unity with false teachers, without challenging their errors, leave their own convictions and beliefs open to question. Anyone who embraces false teachers is giving credibility to their heresies. All Christians will be held accountable to God for the souls that are misled by our unwillingness to contend for the faith. The Tragic Decline of Discernment

The professing church is experiencing a marked decline in discernment because very few pastors are faithfully preaching the Word of God. There has also been an increase of false teachers who are attracting a growing number of gullible followers who want to be entertained. Some pastors are mistakenly calling this a revival because they do not know the difference between a movement of men and a movement of the Spirit.

We know from God's Word that spiritual discernment is a discipline and a privilege that only Christians can exercise. Paul wrote: "But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things" (1 Cor. 2:14-16).  Discernment is necessary for us to determine God's way from man's way, truth from error, good from evil, right from wrong, and apostles from apostates. As disciples of Christ we must all faithfully abide in God's Word to know the truth (John 8:31-32). We must keep discernment alive in order to keep the Body of Christ strong and healthy. What's at stake if we don't? The glory of our Savior, the sanctity of His Church and the purity of His Gospel. May God help us all to fight the good fight of faith as we engage in the fierce battle for the souls of men.

Letters from Around the World

Dear Mike, It is a strange thing how widespread the denial of the Rapture and the 1000 year reign of Christ on earth is among professing 'Bible-believing' Christians today. The denial of the 1000 year reign is the basis for Dominion theology, that somehow we are already in that time period and Jesus is "reigning from heaven" and will return only when the Church has prevailed on earth. One has to be either blind or crazy, or both, to imagine that Satan is bound right now. I have heard teachers twist scriptures in the most incredible, ridiculous way to try and justify this theory. It is shameful. I think ultimately it all comes from the Vatican through their infiltration and corruption of the Protestant seminaries and Bible colleges for the past 200 years. I appreciate your faithfulness to the word of God and our Lord Jesus Christ. I have not been able to find a church in my area that is not ecumenical. So I just meet with a few friends in homes and watch doctrinally sound Bible teachers on the internet ( like yourself) and I give out tracts when I go out shopping. Blessings, L.B., Rockport, TX

I have no words for this, only sadness and disappointment. We should be celebrating our freedom from popery with the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, and evangelicals are joining hands with the Antichrist system that murdered so many Christians. Catholics are not saved, we need to pray for them, preach the true Gospel of Jesus Christ to them, but not join hands with this satanic, antichrist false religious system! All I can do is look to the Lord and trust in Romans 8:28. After reading the names on the list of speakers for Together 2016, I am not surprised. They are ignorant of the history of the RCC, the Reformation and the epidemic of child abuse. Let us be praying about this.

Dear Mike, I can't begin to tell you how grateful I am for your website. I use it often as a scriptural reference when speaking to my 6 siblings steeped in Roman Catholicism. I often wonder how I was the only one of seven, having been raised in the same household as my siblings, to examine my faith 25 years ago and find the truth of Gods word. My frustration of their blinded ways is exasperating. I just listened to an interview you had on a Catholic radio station and I was getting frustrated for you because they did not acknowledge the truth! Because of your website, I know more about the RCC than they do! Most Catholics really are not sure what they believe. The RCC is one of Satans greatest deceptions simply because it is veiled in so many 1/2 truths. It is perhaps the most cunning series of perpetual lies since the Garden of Eden. I have so admired you and your commitment to evangelizing Catholics. You have undertaken the most challenging career path a pastor can endure in your attempt to spread light to the RCC. You are a modern day hero! Thank you! R.B., Brentwood, TN

Hi Mike,
I really enjoy getting your emails. If you bring the truth to Catholics, they hate you for it. They see you as crazy. As a child, I was told by the nuns that only Catholics were going to heaven. I have really good friends that still believe this. It is very uncomfortable for them to speak about their religion, until you disagree with them, then they want to defend it. The limitations the Catholic Church puts on their followers are amazing. I have a Catholic friend who is fretful because her sister was cremated and a priest told her that unless her ashes were put together, she will never rest. The ashes were split between her x-husband and her sister's side of the family. Worry about such things is so ridiculous to me, however, to her it is tormenting. Believing the priest is causing her so much pain, where none is warranted. I tried talking to her about it, but she doesn't think I am qualified to argue with a priest. I pray for her and her family, to be released from this choking religion. I know she believes in Jesus and his saving grace. But, the practice of this religion for so many years has her all tied up! Why Would Anyone Reject the Gospel?

It is the greatest news that any convicted sinner could ever hear! A full pardon for sin is offered by a holy and righteous God who cannot let sins go unpunished (Ex. 34:7). The pardon is offered because of a love story, written in blood, on a wooden cross, 2000 years ago. It is free because the Lord Jesus Christ cancelled the eternal debt to satisfy divine justice for His people. He paid a debt He did not owe because we had a debt we could not pay. Forgiveness is a free gift of God's grace to those who repent and believe the Gospel.

At the moment of conversion, repenting sinners are forgiven and acquitted (Col 2:13). They are justified and saved from the terrifying wrath of our Holy God (Rom 5:9). They are made spiritually alive in Christ (Eph 2:5) and empowered by the Spirit (Rom 8:11-13) to live a victorious life over the power of sin (Rom. 6:17-18). By abiding in God's Word, they have come to know the truth which has set them free from religious bondage and deception (John 8:31-32). Their eternal inheritance is reserved in heaven and kept by the power of God (1 Pet. 1:3-5). To all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, citizens of heaven and co-heirs with Christ (John 1:12; Phil. 3:20; Rom. 8:17; Gal. 4:5). They will spend eternity in God's presence praising Him for His grace and mercy!

Those who reject the greatest gift anyone could ever receive will remain spiritually dead in sin (Eph 2:1) and condemned to eternal punishment (2 Pet 2:9) where they will suffer torments of hell's fire (Rev 14:11) and God's righteous wrath (Col 3:6). They will remain a child of the devil (1 Jn 3:10), hopeless and helpless (Rom 5:8), in bondage to sin (Rom 6:20) and separated God (Eph. 2:12). Those who are born only once are destined to die twice (Rev 20:14) and experience eternal, everlasting humiliation and shame (Jer 23:40).

It is because of our compassion for the lost that we offer the Keynote message Where Will You Spend Eternity? The message explains what the Gospel is and what it is not. We don't want there to be any confusion about life's most important issue. The DVD, which also includes the message Why Should I Believe the Bible?, is offered at a special savings this month. Order the DVD here and share it with your loved ones and friends.

Priests Barred from Being Alone with Children

The Catholic Church of Montreal plans to bar priests, volunteers, and all those involved in faith education from being alone with children. The measure is part of a policy the archdiocese is calling "Responsible Pastoral Ministry." The church has been rocked in recent years by allegations of sexual abuse of children. Read more.

DVD of the Month

Why are Evangelicals reversing the Reformation?
Most are overlooking or ignoring the precious doctrines for which many of the Reformers gave their lives defending. Others are now accepting Roman Catholicism as a valid expression of Christianity. Mike gives seven critical reasons why the Reformation can never be reversed and why Catholics and Evangelicals can never be united in a common faith.

Gospel Cards
The 12 Most Important Words of the Gospel

This set of 12 four-color Gospel Cards were designed and developed to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ clear, complete, and biblically accurate. Each card defines and explains the most important words of the Gospel using four bullet points with Scripture references. The cards can be used to clarify common misunderstandings about life's most critical issue: "What must I do to be saved?" Order here.

The Sufficiency of our Lord Jesus Christ

God's Gospel reveals all the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished to save sinners from the power, punishment, and ultimately, the presence of sin: righteousness had to be perfected, divine justice had to be satisfied, blood had to be shed, redemption had to be paid, sins had to be forgiven, reconciliation had to be achieved, death had to be conquered, and salvation had to be secured.
What a glorious Savior we have to proclaim!
